Charlotte wasn't aware of how much time was passing.

Guards would visit her frequently at the beginning but it slowly became more gradual as if they were getting bored of her.

They'd deliver bland meals without a word, some would stay and watch Charlotte like she was entertaining.

Marjorie didn't return, Charlotte overheard the Guards say that she'd disappeared without a word. She was wanted.

She left Charlotte behind, when the lonely realisation kicked in she pushed the hurt aside and started on hiding her memories, if she could even achieve such a thing.

Mia will come for you, Mia always comes for you.

As the days passed her memories became more and more difficult to attain, only the grief could be seen.

Her daughters deaths were the most prominent. A constant reminder that she had failed them.

Someone will come for you, someone always comes for you.

No one came.

She promised herself to not break, to keep fighting. She found her familiar exercising routine kept her sane, the cell was spacious enough that she could cartwheel diagonally across it.

She learned how to do handstands. Spent what felt like hours doing push-ups, She discovered that she could slot her feet through the bars of the cell door and do crunches while hanging upside down.

It helped turn her mind off. Pushing herself to new physical limits. When her arms and legs turned to jelly, she'd slump down into a corner and fall into a dreamless sleep. It was the only way to make the deaths stop playing in front of her eyes.

No one had thought to cut out her vocal cords or restrict her speech, this came in handy when she felt herself slipping, she'd sing, she'd count, she'd hum. Anything to overcome the deafening silence.

Charlotte was laying in a heap of misery when the metal door swung open.

She felt the sound vibrate in her skull and she bit back a cry, she opened her eyes and a lantern was swinging metres away from her face, she pulled back at the pain it bought to her.

"How long has she been down here?" An unfamiliar voice asked.

Charlotte cringed internally at the sudden sound, she wasn't used to noise and it made her muscles twitch involuntarily.

"Four months, I'm surprised she's lucid at all." Another strange voice added skeptically.

Charlotte felt her heart drop, she wasn't aware of time and hearing how long she'd trapped confirmed filled her chest with dread.
