Natasha Romanoff had always been the elusive, mysterious member of the Avengers. She wore her stoic facade as easily as she slipped into her black suit—calm, collected, and impenetrable.

But to Peter Parker, she was something else. Since the moment he’d stepped into the chaotic world of the Avengers, she’d been a guiding hand, sharp with her advice yet soft in her presence.

In the absence of Aunt May during missions and fights, Peter found himself seeking Natasha’s counsel. At first, he was nervous around her. She was The Black Widow, after all, and had seen more battles than Peter could even imagine.

But Natasha never treated him like a kid. She didn’t coddle him, didn’t treat him like someone who needed protecting. Instead, she respected his abilities while gently nudging him in the right direction when needed.

One chilly afternoon, Peter found himself pacing outside the training room, anxiety gnawing at his insides. He had just gotten a call from Aunt May, telling him that his grades were slipping, and his brain was overloaded with thoughts of both school and superhero responsibilities.

Natasha walked past, a gym bag slung over her shoulder. Her sharp eyes immediately caught his anxious pacing, and with a silent tilt of her head, she motioned for him to follow her.

Peter didn’t ask where they were going. He trusted Natasha more than anyone else on the team, and sometimes she just knew what he needed. They ended up in the quiet corner of the lounge, where Natasha set down her bag and motioned for him to sit.

“What’s going on, kid?” she asked, her tone softer than usual.

Peter sighed, running a hand through his already messy hair. “It’s just... a lot. You know? School, being Spider-Man, trying to keep everything together. I don’t want to disappoint Aunt May... or you guys.”

Natasha watched him closely, arms crossed but not in the intimidating way others might expect. There was warmth there, an understanding that went beyond words.

“You’re not going to disappoint anyone, Peter. Least of all May.”

“But what if I do? I don’t want to mess this up,” Peter said, his voice almost a whisper.

Natasha leaned forward, placing a hand on his shoulder. “Peter, you’ve been thrown into this insane world way sooner than most people, and you’re handling it better than most of us did. We all mess up sometimes. Trust me, I’ve made my fair share of mistakes.”

Peter looked at her in disbelief. “You? I mean... you’re... you.”

Natasha laughed lightly, the sound catching Peter off guard. “Exactly. I’ve been where you are—doubting myself, wondering if I’d ever be good enough. But you can’t carry the weight of the world on your shoulders alone. You’ve got me, you’ve got the team, and most importantly, you’ve got Aunt May. We’re all here to help you when things get tough.”

Peter nodded, feeling some of the weight lift from his chest. “Thanks, Nat.”

She gave him a small smile. “Anytime, kid.”

There was a moment of silence before Peter spoke up again. “You know, you kind of remind me of Aunt May.”

Natasha raised an eyebrow, surprised. “Really? How so?”

Peter grinned. “Well, you both give good advice. And you’re always there when I need you.”

A rare flicker of surprise flitted across Natasha's face, and she quickly looked away, hiding her surprise.

“Don’t get used to it,” she teased, but there was a fondness in her voice.

Peter chuckled, feeling lighter than he had in days. “I won’t. But... thanks, for being there.”

Natasha stood up, ruffling his hair in a way that only Aunt May—or a mother figure—would do.

“Anytime, Peter. Now, go finish that schoolwork. We’ve got a mission soon, and I need you at your best.”

With a grin, Peter nodded, feeling more prepared to tackle whatever came next—both in school and in the world of superheroes.

And as he watched Natasha walk away, he realized that while she wasn’t exactly like Aunt May, in many ways, she was the family he never knew he needed.
