In their small kitchen, Melina sat with a steaming cup of tea, chuckling as she flipped through the pages of Natasha's latest letter.

Beside her, Alexei was squinting at his own letter, which was significantly shorter.

“I'm still on the letter Natasha sent about life in America with the Avengers,” Melina said, tapping a thick stack of pages. “It’s like 25 pages.”

Alexei scoffed, holding up his single-page letter with a grin.

“I like Yelena's better. Straight to the point. ‘Hi Dad, send money.’”

He waved the letter around triumphantly. “Now that is a well-written letter! No unnecessary words.”

Melina stifled a laugh. “You do realize that’s all she wrote, right? Just...‘Hi Dad, send money.’”

“Exactly! She respects my time,” he said, folding the letter with a satisfied nod. “No need to babble on about American things like... like shawarma or Hulk-sized sandwiches.”

Melina raised an eyebrow. “It’s not babbling. She’s sharing her experiences. See here—” She held up one page, “‘Dear Mama, today Tony made a horrible joke about the Red Room, so I put hot sauce in his coffee and blamed it on Clint.’”

Alexei chuckled. “That’s my girl! Teach those pampered Americans a thing or two.”

Melina kept reading. “Oh, and here—she says that Steve is actually very charming, in a ‘1940s gentleman’ sort of way.”

“Ha!” Alexei said. “Steve Rogers, the so-called ‘Captain America’? The Red Guardian laughs in his shield’s face!”

“Oh, really?” Melina smirked. “Because she wrote... wait, let me find it—ah! ‘P.S. Dad would definitely ask for Steve’s autograph if he met him.’”

Alexei choked. “She dares mock the Red Guardian?”

“Oh, she dares.” Melina handed over the 25 pages. “Here. Take a read. Maybe you’ll actually learn something about her American life.”

Alexei huffed but took the letter, muttering. “Fine. I’ll read it, but I still say Yelena’s letter is better.”

He read Natasha’s first line: “Dear Mom, if you see Alexei sneaking peeks at this letter, tell him Cap does, in fact, have bigger biceps.”

He closed the letter and grumbled. “I should have just sent her money.”
