Steve burst into Bucky’s apartment with an urgent expression, causing Bucky to sit up straighter from his place on the couch. Natasha, casually cleaning one of her daggers nearby, raised an eyebrow in Steve’s direction.

"I need your help. I made a mistake," Steve blurted out.

Bucky didn’t even hesitate.

"It’s okay, I have a shovel." He stood, already heading toward the closet.

Steve blinked in confusion. "Wait, what do you think I did?"

Natasha, who had silently risen and now stood with her own shovel in hand, smirked. "It doesn’t matter. No one will ever know."

"Whoa, whoa, whoa!" Steve held up his hands, bewildered by the sudden escalation. "What are you two doing with shovels?"

"You said you made a mistake," Bucky said slowly, as if explaining something obvious to a child. "That means we need to hide a body. We’re prepared."

Natasha nodded, twirling her shovel like it was just another deadly weapon. "We can be out of the city in an hour. No one will ask any questions."

Steve’s eyes widened in horror as the realization dawned on him. "No! I didn’t kill anyone!"

Bucky frowned, his hand still gripping the shovel. "Then what did you do?"

"I—" Steve paused, suddenly feeling sheepish. "I broke Sam’s Redwing."

Both Natasha and Bucky stopped in their tracks. Their excitement visibly deflated, and Bucky let out a sigh, dropping the shovel to the ground with a thud.

"Seriously?" Natasha muttered, looking deeply disappointed. "And here I thought we were going to do something fun today."

Bucky crossed his arms, looking at Steve like he’d ruined his day. "So, no body to bury?"

"No body!" Steve exclaimed, exasperated.

Natasha clicked her tongue, shaking her head.

"I just need help fixing Redwing before Sam finds out," Steve pleaded, glancing between the two.

Bucky exchanged a look with Natasha. "Fixing a drone isn’t exactly our skillset, but I guess it beats sitting around."

"Not by much," Natasha grumbled, though a small grin tugged at her lips as she grabbed her phone. "I’ll call Stark. He owes me a favor."

As they began gathering their things to help fix Redwing, Steve sighed in relief. Though, a part of him couldn’t shake the unsettling fact that Bucky and Natasha were way too prepared to bury a body.

Maybe it was best not to ask too many questions.

But still, Steve couldn’t help but glance at the shovels and mutter, "You two are terrifying sometimes."

Bucky smirked. "Only sometimes, Stevie? You’re too kind."
