Title: Romanogers Songfiction
Song: 'Blank Space' by Taylor Swift

Natasha leaned against the railing of the balcony, the cool evening breeze brushing against her skin. The mission had been successful, but the tension between her and Steve had been building for weeks, simmering just beneath the surface.

She glanced back into the room where the rest of the team mingled, but her eyes were drawn to Steve, who stood across the room, his eyes already on her.

They hadn’t spoken much lately, not beyond mission briefings and battle plans, but the chemistry between them was undeniable, even if neither of them wanted to admit it.

Nice to meet you, where you been? I could show you incredible things...

Steve made his way toward her, his blue eyes never leaving hers. Natasha's heart raced despite herself, but she kept her expression cool.

She knew Steve was steady, reliable—everything she wasn’t. But that didn’t stop her from being drawn to him.

He stopped just a few feet away, close enough for her to feel his presence. “You’ve been avoiding me,” he said softly.

Natasha raised an eyebrow, a teasing smile on her lips. “I think you’ve got it backward, Rogers. You’ve been avoiding me.”

Magic, madness, heaven, sin...

Steve let out a quiet laugh, running a hand through his blonde hair. “Maybe I’ve been waiting for the right moment.”

“Or maybe you’re afraid of what happens next,” Natasha countered, her voice lower now, almost a whisper. “You’re not the only one good at reading people, Steve.”

Saw you there, and I thought, ‘Oh my God, look at that face... You look like my next mistake.

There was a pause, tension thickening the air between them. The look in Steve’s eyes was unreadable, but there was a vulnerability there that Natasha hadn’t expected.

“You think I’m a mistake?” he asked quietly.

Natasha’s breath caught. He was good at this, better than she’d given him credit for. She couldn’t lie to him, not now.

“No,” she admitted. “But I’m not what you’re looking for. I’m not what you need.”

Love's a game, wanna play?

Steve took a step closer, his voice steady but soft. “You’re wrong. I know exactly what I need.”

Natasha’s heart pounded, but she forced herself to hold his gaze. “And what’s that, Captain?” she asked, her voice a mix of curiosity and challenge.

New money, suit and tie... I can read you like a magazine.

Steve smiled, that same quiet confidence she had come to admire in him. “Someone who understands what it’s like to live in shades of gray. Someone who challenges me.”

He reached out, gently brushing a strand of hair behind her ear. The touch was brief, but it sent sparks through her. “Someone who makes me feel alive.”

Natasha couldn’t help but smile at that. “You’re playing a dangerous game, Steve.”

Wait, the worst is yet to come...

“I can handle it,” he said, his voice dropping to a whisper. “Can you?”

Natasha’s breath hitched at the intensity in his gaze. Steve wasn’t just another mission, another distraction. He was the one person who saw through her defenses, the one who made her feel more than she wanted to admit.

Got a long list of ex-lovers, they'll tell you I'm insane...

She looked away, suddenly unsure. “I’m not like the others, Steve. I come with baggage. You don’t want that.”

Steve reached for her hand, and she allowed it. His grip was warm, reassuring. “I’m not asking you to be perfect. I’m asking you to let me in.”

Natasha’s defenses wavered, but she wasn’t ready to let them fall completely. “You say that now, but I’m warning you. I can be... complicated.”

Steve smiled, his thumb brushing over her knuckles. “I’ve seen complicated. I think I can handle you.”

But I've got a blank space, baby, and I'll write your name.

Natasha’s heart raced as for the first time in a long time, she felt something unfamiliar—hope. Maybe Steve was different. Maybe this wasn’t a game she was destined to lose.

“Alright, Rogers,” she said, her voice soft but with a hint of challenge. “Let’s see if you can keep up.”

Steve’s smile widened, his eyes shining with determination. “I wouldn’t be here if I wasn’t ready.”

Natasha stepped closer, letting herself lean into Steve’s warmth. She didn’t know what the future held for them, but for the first time, she was willing to find out.

And maybe, just maybe, she had found her match.
