Title: Strength in Silence

Peter Parker had always been talkative. Whether it was nervous rambling or quick quips during battles, there was rarely a moment where he didn’t have something to say.

Yet now, sitting on the roof of his apartment building, the words seemed to have abandoned him entirely.

The weight of recent battles, of losses too many to count, pressed heavily on his shoulders. For once, the ever-present urge to lighten the mood with humor wasn’t there.

He heard soft footsteps behind him but didn’t turn. He knew who it was without looking. Gwen Stacy, his Gwen, was one of the few people who could approach him without setting off his Spider-Sense. There was something about her presence—steady, calming—that always reassured him.

Without saying a word, Gwen sat down beside him, close enough for their shoulders to touch but giving him enough space to breathe.

Peter swallowed hard, blinking rapidly. He didn’t want to cry—not in front of her. He didn’t want to seem weak.

But Gwen had a way of seeing through his bravado, of understanding him in ways no one else could.

After what felt like an eternity, he finally spoke, his voice barely a whisper. “I… I don’t know if I’m doing enough.”

Gwen turned her head slightly, her soft blonde hair brushing against his arm as she looked at him. “Peter…”

“I try,” he continued, his voice trembling. “I try so hard. But no matter what I do, people still get hurt. And I’m just… I’m just so tired, Gwen.”

His words hung in the air, vulnerable and raw. He hadn’t meant to spill his feelings like that, but once he started, it was like a dam breaking.

Gwen didn’t immediately respond. Instead, she reached over, her fingers finding his hand. She squeezed gently, grounding him with the simplest of gestures.

“You don’t have to do it all alone,” she whispered, her voice full of warmth and understanding. “You don’t have to carry the weight of the world on your shoulders.”

Peter closed his eyes, leaning into her touch. “But it feels like I have to.”

“You don’t.” Gwen’s voice was firm but gentle. “You have people who care about you, who are willing to help. You’ve always been so busy trying to save everyone else, but who’s there to save you?”

Peter exhaled shakily, his hand tightening around hers. “You.”

The corners of Gwen’s lips lifted in a soft smile. “Always.”

She shifted closer, wrapping an arm around his shoulders, and Peter leaned into her, resting his head against her. They sat like that for a long time, neither of them saying anything.

“You’re enough, Peter,” she said after a while, her voice soft but unwavering. “You’re more than enough. And even when you feel like you’re falling apart, I’ll be here to hold the pieces together.”

“I don’t deserve you,” he murmured.

Gwen smiled, pressing a gentle kiss to his forehead. “Maybe. But you’ve got me anyway.”

A small, grateful smile tugged at Peter’s lips, and for the first time in days, the weight on his chest felt just a little lighter.

And with Gwen by his side, Peter knew he would be okay.
