3rd Person's POV
"Sandra is a lesbian, Lia is her lover" Cheska declared, her voice suddenly loud and clear, slicing through the stunned silence of the room. She wobbled again but remained standing, holding the microphone with a triumphant sneer as if she had just unveiled the world's biggest scandal.
The shockwave rippled across the room. Some guests gasped in disbelief, while others began whispering to each other in hushed tones, stunned by the revelation.
Sandra stood frozen, her face an unreadable mask, but Lia could feel the weight of the accusations bearing down on her. The tension that had been simmering beneath the surface all evening had finally exploded, and now, there was no going back.
In the corner of the ballroom, Miranda Domingo's face was a mixture of outrage and disgust, her icy glare now fixed on her daughter. Mike, standing beside her, looked equally shocked, his brows furrowed as if trying to process what he had just heard.
Lia felt sick to her stomach. She knew this was the moment that could ruin everything—for her, for Sandra, and for the secret they had tried so hard to keep hidden.
Sandra finally moved, stepping forward to face Cheska. Her voice was low but firm, "Cheska, you need to stop."
But Cheska only laughed bitterly. "Oh, stop? Why? Is it too much? Or is it because I'm telling the truth, and you can't handle it?"
The room was still reeling, but Lia knew they had to do something before things spiraled completely out of control. She stepped forward, trying to stay calm, but her mind was racing.
Before she could think of what to do next, security appeared at the edge of the stage, ready to escort Cheska away. But the damage had already been done.
As the guards gently took Cheska's arm, pulling her away from the microphone, she called out one final taunt. "Everyone knows now, Sandra! You can't hide it anymore!"
The guards pulled her off the stage, but her words lingered in the air. The entire ballroom was now buzzing with speculation, murmurs of disbelief, judgment, and curiosity spreading like wildfire.
Sandra, visibly shaken but still trying to maintain her composure, glanced at Lia. Their eyes met across the room, and for a moment, it was just the two of them, caught in the aftermath of a truth that had been violently ripped into the open.
Lia stood there, frozen in place, her body unable to move as if it had turned to stone. The ballroom seemed to collapse around her, the weight of Cheska's revelation hanging heavily in the air. Everyone was waiting for Sandra's response, and so was Lia. Her heart was pounding in her chest, her throat tightening as she fought to keep her composure. What would Sandra say? Would she finally acknowledge their relationship? Would she stand by her side?
Sandra, standing tall on the stage, looked out at the sea of eyes, all fixed on her with burning curiosity. For a brief moment, Sandra's gaze fell on Lia—just a flicker of connection that gave Lia hope. But that hope was about to be crushed.
With a controlled, confident voice, Sandra finally spoke. "What Cheska said... it's not true," she began, her voice ringing clearly through the microphone.
Lia's breath caught in her throat. Not true?
"I have the utmost respect for Lia Marquez," Sandra continued, her words measured and precise. "But she is nothing more than my secretary. She's been a loyal and hardworking employee, and I value her contribution to D Empire, but that's all there is between us. Nothing more, nothing else."
The words cut through Lia like a sharp blade. She felt the sting of betrayal deep in her chest, her body going cold as the denial echoed through the ballroom. Nothing more, nothing else.
