The Ocampo couple briefly left them when Allie’s doctor called for them. The doctor's face was serious when they met.

"Please have a seat, Mr. and Mrs. Ocampo," he said, and the couple immediately complied.

"Is there a problem, Doc?" Mr. Ocampo asked.

The doctor spoke with the same serious tone.

"Is there a problem, Doc?" Mr. Ocampo asked.

The doctor continued to speak seriously. "First, I am thankful that your daughter has survived the danger. She is now stable, and there is nothing to worry about anymore."

The couple sighed with relief, saying, "Thanks, God."

The doctor went on, "But this is a very serious matter, Mr. and Mrs. Ocampo. On Allie's first night here, she was in very bad condition. She had many wounds on her body, and she suffered a significant injury to her head. After five days in a coma, she suddenly woke up with no marks or scars. There isn't even a single scratch on her body. How could this be possible? We really don’t know. It's a miracle because we can’t explain why or how or what happened to her."

The couple exchanged long looks but did not speak.

“So, Doc, can we take Allie home now?” Mrs. Ocampo asked after a moment.

“There is no reason to keep your daughter here, Mrs. Ocampo. She is fine now. I will just arrange her release papers,” the doctor replied.

The couple stood up and thanked the doctor before leaving his office and returning to their daughter's room.

They didn’t discuss what the doctor had said. However, Allie furrowed her brow when she suddenly heard her parents' thoughts while they were quiet. When they looked at her, she was startled by what she heard in her mother’s mind: *Who is this child? Where did she come from? What kind of people are her real parents?*

"This is unbelievable. The doctor was right. My daughter has no wounds, not even a scratch," was what the father thought as he watched her.

Allie was shocked. Why could she hear their thoughts?

When she looked at her sister, she heard her thoughts about how she would atone for the wrongs she had done to her. She truly felt remorse for what she had done. Yaya, on the other hand, was thinking about delicious food for her.

She closed her eyes and tried to control her racing thoughts, overwhelmed by the deafening voices she could hear. She covered her ears, took a deep breath, and calmed herself.

When she removed her hands from her ears, her hearing returned to normal. She didn’t know how to tell her parents about her discovery. They might panic even more if they realized she wasn’t normal.

As they were heading home, Allie sat in the back of the car, looking out the window next to her sister and Yaya. Suddenly, she noticed a woman standing in front of a grocery store, and the woman was looking at her as well.

Their eyes met. Allie knew it was only for a few seconds, but it felt as if time had stopped when their gazes locked.

She continued to stare at the woman as they drove away.

“Why?” her sister  asked, noticing her fixation.

“Nothing,” she replied, adjusting her position in her seat.

She couldn’t understand why she felt something unusual when she saw the woman. She didn’t know her and had never seen her before.

Allie tried to read the woman’s thoughts, but she couldn’t grasp anything, which only deepened her contemplation. Who was that woman? Why did her gaze feel like it penetrated to her very soul, bringing an unfamiliar warmth?
