ALLIE'S POV
I felt hopeless.
For the first time in my life, I didn’t know what to do next. Should I walk away and pretend nothing happened? Or should I admit that I had lost my powers?
“Allie, what’s happening?” Maia asked with concern.
I looked at her and replied, “I lost my powers.”
She frowned. “What do you mean? How can you lose your powers? That’s impossible.”
“But I can’t use my magic. I can’t read your mind. I can’t see someone’s past anymore. And I’m feeling cold inside. I can’t heal him, Maia.”
I hadn’t even realized my tears were falling. I couldn’t help the child who had asked for my assistance.
“Are you unable to heal?” the child asked.
I couldn’t even look at her.
“Is it because we’re poor that you don’t want to help us?”
I shook my head immediately as I knelt in front of her. “I’m sorry. But I can’t heal your father right now.”
“Princess Alessandra, please forgive my child’s behavior,” the father said.
Suddenly, there was a murmur among the people surrounding us, which then fell silent. I noticed a white garment beside the man and looked up. A hand rested on the man's head, and a golden light emanated from that hand.
Everyone gasped in surprise. And the crowd erupted in applause when the blind man opened his eyes.
“I can see!”
I looked at the girl in white. Her hair was almost the same color as mine, and her eyes were nearly golden.
Who is she?
A cloaked figure approached. When they removed the cloak, the crowd gasped in awe.
“It’s Lord Ehann!” the people shouted.
His eyes were fixed on me. There was something familiar about him, and I sensed danger. I stood up while keeping my gaze on him. He stepped closer until we were face to face. He smiled—a familiar smile that concealed something sinister.
“I finally meet you, Princess.”
The tone of his voice sent chills down my spine. His handsome face couldn’t hide the malice in his eyes.
“Who are you?”
I tried to stay calm, but embarrassment washed over me. I didn’t want to appear any weaker in front of them.
“Tsk, tsk. I'm hurt, Princess. You really can’t remember your past?”
I was confused by his words.
“Excuse me, but we need to go,” Maia suddenly interjected, sensing the tension between me and the man.
“Ah... a new lover?” he said, looking Maia up and down. “A woman this time? Huh, what a pity. I didn’t expect this at all, Princess.”
Maia growled at him, and he just laughed.
“A wolf? What happened to you, Princess? Is it because you don’t remember your past that you chose a wolf as a lover this time? Tsk, tsk. You better let her go, Princess. You wouldn’t want to repeat what happened to your previous lovers, would you?”
I didn’t know him. I couldn’t remember him. But why did it feel like he knew me? Had he mistaken me for someone else?
“Lord Ehann,” a woman in a white dress called out.
