'MAIA?' she called the woman’s name in her mind. Would she answer? Could she still hear her even if she wasn’t physically present?
'Why? What happened?'
Allie was startled when Maia suddenly replied.
'I feel like I’m burning. I think I just burned Rainier’s skin,' she said, not knowing what to do. She was utterly confused.
'Allie, you need to learn to control yourself. Calm down. You’ll cause chaos if you suddenly start spitting fire.'
She wasn’t sure if Maia was joking with her last comment. 'That’s exactly what I want to do,' she muttered.
'I’m outside the campus. Wait for me. I know someone who can help you manage what you're feeling.'
'I’ll be there.'
Allie was once again shocked when she suddenly found herself standing in front of Maia.
"What just happened?" she asked, eyes wide in disbelief.
"You can teleport," Maia said, excitement in her voice.
Well, Allie wasn’t thrilled.
"There’s so much more you can do, Allie. More than we ever thought. Telepathy, teleportation… Are you also a seer?"
"What the hell are you talking about? What’s this seer nonsense?"
"A seer is someone who can see the future."
She shook her head.
But she did see someone’s past... or was it the past? She didn’t know anymore. Her head was pounding from thinking about all these things happening to her body.
"This isn’t me anymore. I’m not normal. I don’t know what to do."
"Come with me."
"Where?"
"There’s someone I want you to meet."
"Who?"
"My companion from our world. But she’s only been here for a few weeks."
"Is she like me?" Allie asked.
Maia looked at her intensely. "No one is like you, Allie. You are one of a kind."
---
Maia led Allie into an apartment. Suddenly, Maia panicked and rushed into one of the rooms.
"Zenda! Zenda!"
They found a woman trembling and pale, hugging herself under a table.
"Who is she?" Allie asked Maia.
"This is Zenda," Maia replied as she pulled the woman out from under the table and embraced her.
Zenda’s eyes were closed, but when she opened them and looked at Allie, Allie was completely shocked.
Her eyes were blood-red, and fangs were visible.
"Vampire?" Allie asked in a whisper.
Maia nodded.
"For real?" Allie asked again.
Maia nodded once more.
"I thought vampires only existed in movies and books. But they’re real? Oh my God, what’s going on? This is crazy!"
