Alessandra was gone for only a few minutes, but it had been hours since she returned to Eqiros. Ehann was still standing atop the platform, the fire on his chest gradually engulfing him.

It was then that Alessandra noticed the significant changes in Abel. She had been right in her feelings when she toured the entire kingdom. There was something wrong with the kingdom. She was correct; there was no longer a veil of deception covering the realm. They had been blinded by a beauty designed to manipulate everyone.

The Kingdom of Abel was not beautiful; it was ugly and dying. How had Ehann managed to conceal everything?

Alessandra walked along the road leading to the city. This was not what she had seen a few days ago. The buildings were ruined, worse than those in the Lourz Kingdom. She didn't see a single living plant or tree. When she turned to look at the palace, it was the only thing that still appeared intact.

People greeted Alessandra as she walked along the street.

“Help! Help us, please,” an old woman pleaded as she approached her.

“What’s wrong?” Alessandra asked.

The woman showed her hand, and Alessandra was shocked to see that her fingers looked as if they were rotting.

“We didn’t realize that we were eating nothing but spoiled food. Everyone thought life here was good, which is why we ended up here. Please help us. We are begging you.”

Alessandra held the woman as she wept before her. From her palms, a white light emerged, transferring to the old woman’s hands and enveloping her entire body. It was not the red fire like Ehann’s; it was a white light that healed the old woman.

The woman’s eyes widened as she felt the pain leave her body. “Your Majesty!” she exclaimed, dropping to her knees and bowing to Alessandra. “Thank you so much.”

The crowd gathered around Alessandra. She healed everyone who was sick. They were amazed as she touched the ground, and plants began to sprout one by one. The greenery followed her as she walked through the entire city.

She swirled various colors from her hands throughout the kingdom. Each damaged building was restored to its former state and shape. She repaired the broken roads and made the fruit-bearing trees grow again.

Within just a few hours of her tour, the entire city transformed into a vibrant and lively place, not a false beauty but a true one.

As the sun began to set, Alessandra returned to the palace, greeted by guards and the queen.

“Ale—”

“I will bring Maia back to Lourz,” Alessandra said to the queen.

“Yes, Ale—”

“Your Majesty,” Alessandra corrected her.

She couldn’t forget how hard it had been for the queen to listen to her pleas. They had spent time together, even sleeping side by side, yet the queen had ignored her cries for help. Maia had been lost because of her heartlessness. Although she was her mother’s sister, Alessandra was not reborn just to forgive someone so unmerciful to others.

“Your Majesty, I’m sorry.”

If the queen felt anger at being addressed in such a manner, she didn’t show it—something Alessandra was keenly aware of. But there was time for the queen later. For now, it was more important to take Maia’s body home.

The queen led her to a room where Zen, Rollieh, and Jhosie were waiting.

“Please bring all the belongings we left behind,” Alessandra ordered a guard.
