“It’s the goddess!” When the radiant blue light passed through everyone and everything in the world, memories of Goddess Iona’s true form surged back into every mind. Awe struck as they recognized the goddess once cloaked in mystery, now standing before them, draped in golden splendor, her wings gleaming like the sun.
Alessandra had not transformed into a dragon. Instead, she emerged as a goddess with golden wings, an ethereal figure that left the crowd gasping in reverence. One by one, they fell to their knees, heads bowed, unable to look directly at her brilliance.
Lord Ehann, once filled with smug confidence, now quaked in terror as Alessandra’s gaze bore into him. In the blink of an eye, she stood before him, her golden eyes blazing as they penetrated the depths of his darkened soul.
“Impossible…,” he whispered, barely able to find his voice. “Tona… how… how did you come back?”
“You have wreaked enough havoc on my world, Ehann,” she declared, her voice echoing like thunder. “It ends here.”
His face twisted in defiance. “You think this will bring peace? I’m not alone, Iona. Countless others would defy you!”
Alessandra’s expression softened momentarily, and she reached forward, cupping his face with a gentleness that only amplified his fear. “Once, you were a beautiful creation, Ehann. That’s why I made you the Moon God. But look at you now—a twisted mockery of what you were meant to be. I pity what you’ve become.”
Every word seemed to tear through Lord Ehann, filling him with a dread he had never known. He tried to scoff, to sneer, but his voice faltered under her gaze.
“You can’t kill me, Iona,” he sneered weakly, trying to rally his defiance. “You’re too soft to follow through.”
She held his gaze, unblinking. “You are right, Ehann. I once couldn’t bear the thought of hurting you. But not anymore.”
Alessandra turned her gaze to the grim reaper, a figure visible only to her. He lingered nearby, his cold eyes fixed on Maia’s lifeless body. But Alessandra wouldn’t let him take Maia without first delivering justice.
“Now, Ehann,” she said, leaning close to him, “I want you to feel the pain you inflicted on me when you took away the love of my life—not once, but again and again.”
Alessandra touched his forehead with a single finger, a fiery red light emanating from it and coursing into his mind. Lord Ehann screamed, his body going rigid as burning veins spread across his skin, his face twisted in agony.
As his tortured screams filled the air, Alessandra turned away, crossing over to Maia’s body. She knelt, cradling her beloved’s head in her lap, her heart shattering as she brushed the hair from Maia’s face.
“Maia?”
In desperation, she summoned her powers to heal the wounds on Maia’s body. She poured every ounce of her strength into restoring her, refusing to let her go.
“Allie?” Maia’s voice was faint, but her eyes opened slowly, gazing up at Alessandra with wonder.
Alessandra let out a choked laugh, tears filling her eyes. “You’re alive, Maia. I… I thought I’d lost you.”
Maia’s hand reached up to touch Alessandra’s cheek. “You look… different. A goddess?”
Alessandra nodded, smiling through her tears. “I remember everything now. And, Maia, you were right. You are my soulmate.”
Maia’s smile was soft, but Alessandra could feel her strength fading. She pressed her lips to Maia’s in a tender, heartfelt kiss, but as their souls touched, she felt Maia slipping away. She clutched her tighter.
