Ness wasn't dumb by any means, he would've never been suited to be Kaiser's midfielder, let alone Bastard Munchen's, if he were. He was their magician, able to slip past defenses in the blink of an eye and see through openings nobody else could.

He was perceptive, quick on his feet, and creative. The only thing that held him back was his devotion to Kaiser, one that ran so deep to the point of obsession and unhealthy codependency.

It was bad and he knew he needed to steer away from this type of behavior but it was so hard to do when Kaiser filled the void in his heart so well. The void, the feeling of being wanted and needed.

The moment Kaiser sunk his teeth into him, rather than pulling away, he pulled himself closer and allowed himself to be devoured. He followed the man wherever he went, listening to orders without a second thought.

So, Ness knows he isn't dumb nor was he blind, he knew what Kaiser was doing, but he may as well be a clown given how he willingly lets it happen.

But could you blame him?

All his life, he's looked for meaning in his existence, trying to prove he was worth something to anyone who thought otherwise. So when someone finally gave him purpose, the validation he's been seeking, how could he ever think of leaving? How could he ever think of going back to when he was worthless?

How could he ever turn away when he was finally needed? Even if it were a simple ploy, a mindless game to Kaiser, how could he ever leave when his once bleak existence only found meaning by becoming useful for someone else?

Kaiser was his salvation. A divine gift that was personally sent to him by heaven itself.

And yet...

"Want...to play with me? I'm sure we both could use a distraction and..."

As Ness stared at the offered hand in front of him, he couldn't help but feel a type of warmth bloom in his chest, something he'd never come close to experiencing with Kaiser.

His eyes were kind, far kinder than what he deserved to be given, considering how low he was willing to bring himself just to satiate his selfish desires

His eyes were kind, far kinder than what he deserved to be given, considering how low he was willing to bring himself just to satiate his selfish desires. Ruby-colored eyes looked at him patiently and although they were so vastly different, he couldn't help but recall the shade of Kaiser's sharp sapphire eyes.

The first time he met Kaiser, he instantly knew he'd become a force to be reckoned with. His presence was already so bright even then, albeit a bit aggressive and a lot less dignified compared to how he is now. He just couldn't compare to something like that.

Yet, when Kaiser had turned to him—him!!—of all people for assistance, It felt as though Lady Luck herself had finally gazed in his favor. It felt like everything he'd worked so hard for had led him to this moment, led him to meet Kaiser.

What he didn't notice at the time due to his desperation, however, was the calculating look in Kaiser's eyes, one that assessed his potential to be used and manipulated. He wondered if he had just paid a bit more attention and noticed that ill-intent, would he have still followed Kaiser as diligently?
