Stepping out of the vehicle, she was immediately greeted by the greenery that surrounded them. The air here was full of life and energy that tugged at her in a way that made her chest tighten. As the others busied themselves packing away the camping supplies, she stood still for a moment, letting the wind brush through her hair. It felt soft, like a mother's gentle caress, and for a fleeting second, she longed to stay in this place.
It reminded her of home. Of the forest she'd left behind, the one that had sheltered her for so long. She missed it more than she'd care to admit. The wild, untamed beauty of it. The freedom. The peace. She let out a small sigh, her wings shifting slightly in the breeze as she tried to shake off the melancholy settling over her. Slowly, almost reluctantly, she moved to help Pigsy and Tang with the packing, her movements sluggish and uncharacteristically downcast. Pigsy, ever perceptive, shot her a curious glance as he noticed her change in demeanor.
"What's got you down in the dumps?" he asked with a scoff, his tone gruff but not unkind. She shook her head, not really in the mood to talk about it. "That is none of your concern," she replied quietly, trying to dismiss the conversation before it could go any further. He rolled his eyes dramatically, but then his face brightened as if he'd just had the greatest idea in the world. "Hey, how about you get the rest of the gang over here? Might give you something to do, yeah? Let us handle all this junk," he said, waving a hand at the supplies.
A soft smile tugged at her lips despite her mood. Pigsy always had a way of nudging her back toward something brighter, even if she didn't realize it. She had a soft spot for him, for all animal-like demons, really. They had a warmth to them, a kind of earnestness she found comforting. "Of course," she replied, her voice a little lighter, grateful for the distraction.
She made her way through the dense woods, her footsteps light and effortless, as if the forest itself welcomed her. The trees seemed to bend slightly in her favor, the ground beneath her feet shifting smoothly as she moved. No twigs snagged in her hair, no branches obstructed her path. It was peaceful here, a quiet that resonated with her own heart, reminding her of the days she had once lived among nature's embrace.
As she drew closer to the voices of MK and Mei, the trees thinned, revealing a small clearing where the three of them stood. Their laughter echoed in the air, carefree and light. She hesitated for a moment, simply watching them, before softly calling out, "We must be departing soon." MK, Mei, and Sandy looked up at her, the smiles on their faces easy and warm. MK was the first to respond with an enthusiastic nod, "Alright, we better go!" He began to jog toward her, ready to make their way back, but before he could get far, Mei's voice rang out.
"Wrong way, guys! The vehicle's already pulled up!" Mei called from the open door of the vehicle, waving at them from the driver's seat. MK froze, blinking in confusion for a moment before turning around with a sheepish laugh. "Right... yeah, that makes sense." He jogged back toward the vehicle, and Sandy followed behind, chuckling under his breath.
It was strange how quickly they'd managed to pack everything up, but she didn't dwell on it too much. Perhaps she'd been lost in her own thoughts for longer than she'd realized. Ushering MK into the vehicle first, she followed closely behind, her wings folding tightly against her back. As she stepped into the vehicle, a sudden chill ran down her spine, causing her to pause and look around cautiously. She moved slowly, careful not to draw attention to herself. Everything seemed normal on the surface—Sandy, MK, and Mei were in the back, chatting away as they always did. But something was off.
Her gaze drifted toward the spot where Wukong had been meditating earlier. The familiar presence that always filled the air around him was missing. Where is Wukong? she thought quietly, unease gnawing at her mind. Her eyes flickered across the space, but there was no sign of him. Sandy must have noticed it too, as he began to search for his animal companion, a quiet worry etched into his usually calm face. Meanwhile, Pigsy mumbled to himself from the front, seemingly oblivious to the strange tension rising in the air.
