The brightly lit city bustled about. The cloudless sky gleamed upon the vibrant cityscapes. Megapolis was alive, as its congested streets and highways pulsed with teeming civilians who pushed through to beat the lunch rush. No care in the world for it was just another day for any ordinary bystander.
A man spoke into his phone quickly, adverting his gaze from any passersby. He licked his lips ready to make a witty remark, shutting his eyes. He opened his mouth and peaked through, under his eyes noticing a few pebbles shaking on the ground. He quirked his brow turning to look at the traffic behind him. At the exact same moment, a thunderous earthquake rattled the ground. He gripped his phone, that was still held up to his ear, he gulped quietly. For a moment it was as if the world had shut down. Some bystanders removed themselves from their vehicles: awaiting what was to come. Others quickly sped up their pace to get as far as they could from what lied in the unknown. He stood, looking up at the sky. The air grew cold and the sky became dark. His breath hitched, jerking and running from any harm that would be to come.
A dark shadow, slowly peaked from the horizon. Looming across skyscrapers and buildings alike. The city became dark, as everyone settled with the fear in their stomach. The silence fell to deaf ears as civilians scrambled, screaming in terror of the beast that had magically appeared. They ran to their vehicles and ran far from the destruction zone. Hoping to somehow miss the outcome the monster will soon ensue.
Large beady, pink eyes with the left one being slashed out with an 'X' glowed menacingly watching intensely as crowd scoured for cover. The monster, was of a large shadow that resembled a monkey covered in loose bandages floating around its arms and torso. It heaved, a deep growl escaping its throat: shaking the mere earth below it. His eyes met those of someone on a nearby roof. With a deep might roar: his battle cry. He commenced his attack. He clawed and thrashed violently into anything in its path.
Across the destruction, a top of a sprawling building. Stood two figures, they watched amused with the sight that was bestowed upon them. She hummed to herself slightly turning to look at Macaque. He had a sickening grin, as he watched his beast wreck into buildings left and right. His ears twitched as (y/n) spoke, "My, this is quite a scene." She chuckled softly, turning her attention to the shadow entity. He scowled at her; his fur spiking up, agitated with the petty remark. "How about you get to doing your part." She placed her hands together facing him entirely. "Well, I would have been capable of doing just that but," she adverted her gaze to the giant-sized monkey, "I did not get the chance too, Six Eared Macaque."
He scoffed at her, in a flash a large clawed hand grabbed her. "How chivalrous you are." He laughed cockily mouthing out a, "my bad" as she was soon taken as a captive. The entities' grip did anything but hurt her, she mused to herself as she was lifted into the air. With the other hand, the beast continued its rampage. The city was in disarray as civilians scampered all over the place. She observed them, boringly. Her interest peaked as a group suddenly began attacking the mutant monkey.
The monkey swatted at them like flys flinging one of them across the hard cement. She scowled at how brash the giant was being, hitting the hand of the beast, glaring at it. It turned to her, for a second, quickly sharpening its gaze as well. Within a flash the beast grunted as it was hit in the abdomen by a blue creature. He recovered: fast, knocking down a building in front of them to slow their attacks. Macaque appeared on the shoulder of the beast, she contorted her head to get a better look at him. He rolled his eyes, yelling over the ruckus. "I could've been seriously injured there! Do you want to be dropped?"
She stared him down, "Stop being impulsive! These humans cannot get hurt!" He groaned dramatically, sliding a hand down his face. "Look, we're about to get busy so just relax!" As he spoke those last words his form disappeared into the beast. She turned away from where he stood, glancing at the ground as a human pointed at her, the group that surrounded the human nodded and mouthed words to one another.
"See you, Mistress (y/n)."
The grip from the giant loosened. Her eyes widened slightly as she looked at the eyes of the entity. She began to fall. The wind rasped across her entire being, throwing her around harshly. Her eyes instinctively closed as she awaited the harsh landing. She could hear distant yelling, as the wind gushed through her ears, but that quickly went away as someone shielded her body from the jarring winds. She peaked through her eyes, sensing that faint smell of sweets. Dark hair whipped in her face as she was cradled from the fall. They landed gently onto the ground as the young woman placed her against a red-bricked wall.
"Hey! Are you alright!?" She asked hurriedly checking to make sure the beast was not initiating in any form of battle. The young woman had short chin-length black hair with two small pigtails, straight bangs, and two green strands that framed her face. The silhouette of her hair resembled the head of a dragon, with her pigtails forming the horns.
(y/n) nodded quickly, "Yes, thank you." Her voice was quaint and soft, the woman smiled at her, pushing her hair out of her face. "Don't worry help is coming! This'll be all over real quick!" She enthusiastically shouted. She nodded again, turning her back to (y/n). She stood in a protective stance in front of the nymph. Her human features made look like any ordinary civilian and she was grateful for the glamor magic Macaque had taught her. She sat on the floor awaiting for the monkey giant to move. It stood menacingly, not daring to move a muscle. A sudden gust of wind caused her to shield her vision.
A distraught voice was heard as she looked up. "Mk! What took you so long?" The woman scolded, it was a young man with spiky black hair that was kept up by a red bandana. He held an all to familiar staff in his right hand, quickly getting into a battle stance.
Wukong's staff..could this be..
"Sorry! Sorry, Monkey King was making me do boring stuff," he huffed out, changing the subject quickly. "Is that the bad guy?" As if on cue, a thunderous tremor shook the ground as another building collapsed. "Okay, be right back!" She stared at him as he launched himself to the beast, making quick eye contact with her. He turned his attention back to the giant as he shouted, "Here comes monkey kid–" He grunted in distraught as one of the bandages wrapped around his leg and swung him back to the ground: harshly. He looked at the young woman that sat next to the building, smiling awkwardly at her. She chuckled lightly, as he quickly recovered. "Is that–"
"Monkey king!"
A bright flash redirected her attention as she watched the beast and her ally fight one another. In a a swift swipe dark magic etched across the beast 'ceasing' its existence. Creating a large gust of wind, she grunted holding herself to the ground. The beast soon dispersed as she stood from the ground. The young woman stared up at the brightly lit sky, confused yet relieved that the monster was gone. The young man was no where to be seen. (y/n) had assumed he had went to meet with the 'monkey king'. She stood behind the young woman.
"I must thank you again." She bowed to the woman, lifting her head to smile at the girl. "Oh–pfft–please it's nothing to fuss over!" She laughed out genuinely, flushing at the act. The young woman smiled cheekily before looking the older woman up and down, "Hey, I don't think I've ever seen you before are you–?" She nodded gracefully, "That attack was beyond my understanding..I do happen to be new around this..area." The young woman suddenly felt sympathy for the woman. "I'm so, so sorry you had to go through that! I'm Mei by the way.." she trailed off as she internally cringed at the late introduction. The woman chuckled softly, wrapping her arms around her torso.
"And I am (y/n)."
