Ana's POV
Panic surges through me as I wrestle with the stubborn metal door, the sound of chaos on the other side sending adrenaline coursing through my veins. I catch a glimpse of V, cornered and desperate, facing off against a burly figure wielding a glinting knife. Instinct takes over; I can't stand by any longer. With a fierce determination, I pull out my tools and begin to pummel the door, each strike echoing like a heartbeat in the tension-filled air. Finally, the door gives way with a deafening crash. Documents clutched tightly in my hand, I sprint towards V, ready to fight against whatever threat stands in our way.
The thrill of the chase electrifies the air as I watch him dash into the open area, a darting shadow pursued by a swarm of guards. My heart races as I inch closer, finding refuge in the enveloping darkness.
"V! I got them!" I call out, my voice slicing through the chaos.
Without a moment to lose, I sprint toward him, weaving through the looming figures of the mafia thugs. But the second I reach his side, the danger becomes palpable, their eyes snapping to us like predators honing in on their prey.
With urgency pumping through my veins, we bolt for the exit, seizing the brief moment as they're out of ammunition. My thoughts race faster than my feet; there's no time to check if he's okay, not now. Our only goal is to break free from this nightmare and escape with our lives intact!
As we approach the huge hole area once more, he swiftly grabs the zip line handle and gestures for me to wrap my arms around his waist. With a rush of adrenaline, we leave the ground behind once again. This time, I can't help but notice that he's gripping the zip line handle with just one hand.
Why not with both?My gaze goes towards his other hand that was now hanging next to me. It is covered in blood and a terrible feeling tells me that this time it is his own blood...
Watching him struggle to hold on our weights with just one arm sends a wave of panic through me. My heart sinks—what if he got hurt because I was too slow to open the door? The guilt feels heavy on my shoulders. When we finally reach the ground, he wastes no time, swiftly cutting the zip line to thwart our pursuers, ensuring they can't follow without a struggle. There's no time to catch our breath; adrenaline pulses through us, driving us forward as we sprint full throttle toward the exit, united in our desperate bid for freedom.
"We actually made it out, V! I can't believe it!" I shout, a rush of adrenaline still coursing through me.
"Yes,we've made it, Ana! Are you all right? Did you manage to gather all the files?" he inquires, concern etched on his face.
"I'm perfectly fine, and I've got everything our boss needs right here!" I reply, holding up the precious documents with a triumphant smile. "But oh, you're hurt, aren't you?" I say softly, my heart sinking as I catch sight of the blood trickling down his arm.
"I am a bit hurt, yes" he says, wincing slightly as he speaks. "but it will heal."
As we approach the car, I hurriedly search for the first aid kit, desperate to stop the bleeding. But before I can even reach it, V turns the ignition and starts driving, leaving me in a flurry of confusion.
"V! What are you doing? You can't just leave like this! Let me bandage your arm first!" I shout, panic creeping into my voice.
He glances at me, his expression surprisingly calm. "I know it looks bad, but we don't have much time, Ana. If they realize the papers are gone, they'll come after us."
My heart races, torn between the urgency of our escape and the sight of his blood seeping through his sleeve. "You can't just bleed out while we drive to the cabin! It's too far!" I protest, frustration and fear mingling in my words.
