Ana's POV

The drive back to the villa feels heavy, almost stifling—nothing like the carefree ride we had on the way to the casino

The drive back to the villa feels heavy, almost stifling—nothing like the carefree ride we had on the way to the casino. In the back seat, I'm sandwiched between Clara and Lisa, and there's a noticeable tension in the air that I can't quite put my finger on.

Up front, Nate is a bundle of exuberance, his laughter echoing in the car as he recounts the fortune he struck on the roulette wheel.
"I swear, if I had remained just a little longer, we could have all packed our bags and moved to a private island, living in luxury for the rest of our days!" he says, his infectious enthusiasm filling the vehicle.

Xavier sits quietly at the wheel, perhaps still feeling the sting of his injury. He doesn't seem to share Nate's energy, but as if compelled to temper Nate's excitement, he chimes in coolly,

"Sure, or you could have just as easily lost our company's funds for the assignment, and we'd all be heading to Hell Island instead."

The contrast in their attitudes couldn't be more pronounced, and it sends us all into fits of laughter from the back seat. Clara leans forward, her eyes sparkling with mischief.

"I don't want to come across as rude, Nate," she teases, "but Xavier is absolutely right! At some point, you'd end up with not a penny left in our pockets!" Her laughter is infectious.

"Whose girlfriend are you, Clara?" Nate shoots back, his tone half-serious and half-joking, only making us laugh even harder.

......................................

It's almost five AM as we finally reach home, and the exhaustion of the night hangs heavily on our shoulders. After a quick shower, we drift into the bedrooms, seeking a moment of rest.

As I wait for Xavier to join us, the room feels charged with an opportunity. Alone with Lisa, I seize the moment.

"Lisa, can we talk?" I begin, my voice gently firm. "I need you to push past your fear of heights and try climbing solo tomorrow night."

She raises an eyebrow, surprised. "What? Why on earth would I do that? And by the way, I saw your wild ascent—congrats, Ana!" She flashes a smile, clearly hoping to deflect.

I won't let her dodge it. "Listen, it's not as scary as you think. Focus on each step of the climb instead of looking down. You can do this," I urge, my determination unwavering as I try to bolster her confidence.

"I'm sorry, Ana, but I really can't do that."

"You have to, Lisa! I can't shake the feeling that we're relying too much on Xavier, and it's really harmful for him. Remember what you told Nate? That we girls are just as capable as the boys? So now it's time to put those words into action!" My voice rises with urgency, and a hint of frustration seeps in.

"But he's fine, Ana. Did he say anything to you?" Lisa's tone shifts, a blend of worry and uncertainty creeping in.

"Well, no, he hasn't said a word, but I can sense when something's off with him, even from miles away." I say, my conviction sharpening.
