Ana's POVAs tension coils tightly in my chest with each of Marco's relentless, unanswered calls, I glance over at Xavier, who seems to relish my growing anxiety.
"No! You can't answer him! And stop laughing at me!" I plead, my voice tinged with frustration. "Can you please pull over and remain silent while I answer? Just this once?"
"Sure, miss," he replies with a grin, clearly still amused.
He pulls into a parking lot, and I reluctantly tap the answer button after spotting three missed calls.
"Hey, my princess, what were you doing?" His voice drips with agitation, each word laced with unspoken worries.
"I was just in the shower, love," I reply, striving to keep my tone steady, even as guilt gnaws at my insides. Cold dread washes over me, worrying that he might decide to drop by—though I'm nowhere near home, but at least an hour's drive from my agency.
While I'm still wrapped up in the call, I can't resist stealing a glance at Xavier. He's sitting silently beside me, his gaze fixed on me with an intensity that feels almost magnetic, as if he's trying to distract me from my conversation with Marco. There's a playful spark in his eyes, and I know he just likes to make fun of me, but at this moment, it only feels like an added layer of pressure.
"Oh, I just wanted to check on you and say goodnight!" Marco continues, his tone softening, the agitation fading slowly.
As soon as I hang up, all my focus shifts to Xavier, his grin stretched wide like someone who just watched the funniest comedy.
The tension I was carrying fades away, and in an instant, I lean in closer, determined to cut short his amusement and reclaim the moment.
"Looks like someone had a little too much fun..." I tease, my voice laced with playful mischief. "It's not really fair to poke fun at your friend when she's in the middle of an important call, is it?" I add, a teasing grin spreading across my face.
His expression shifts from amusement to a blend of surprise and worry as I lean in closer, with a soft and delicate movement. I carefully settle onto his lap, and gently cup his chin with my fingers, locking my gaze onto his.
"Ana... what did we talk about... earlier this evening?" he stammers, glancing away for a moment before his eyes find mine again as I tilt his face back toward me.
"I absolutely can't stand it when you distract me with a smile or that playful glance!" I lean in even closer, my heart racing, while his hands lightly push against me, as if to create some space, but I can feel that he enjoys having me this close, despite his attempts to deny it.
I slowly raise his chin as I make my way to his exposed and appealing neck. My lips collide with his skin, his eyes drifting shut and his lips parting slightly as he surrenders to the moment.
