"Fire on fire would normally kill us
But this much desire, together, we're winners
They say that we're out of control and some say we're sinners
But don't let them ruin our beautiful rhythms..."

Ana's POV

He revs the motorcycle, and we speed away from the edge of the forest, the world blurring around us. My arms wrap tightly around him, fingers digging into his waist, as the wind roars past, dancing through the loose strands of hair that escaped the confines of my helmet. A thrilling mix of freedom and relief washes over me, knowing he's secure in my grip. An exhilarating satisfaction courses through my veins—we've faced this terrifying challenge together and emerged victorious.

Earlier, we were enveloped in silence as we frantically searched for a way out of the forest; our words were stolen by shock and an urgent need to escape the horror we had witnessed.

Now, as he pulls the motorcycle off the road, we gather our thoughts while the world around us transforms. The sun dips below the horizon, giving way to a tapestry of glimmering stars. We tumble into each other, enveloped in a tight embrace. In this moment, the chaos behind us fades, replaced by the warmth of our connection under the vast, starlit sky.

"Xavier, we did it! I knew we were going to win this together!" I exclaim, pulling him tighter in my embrace.

"Yeah. Thank you, Ana," he murmurs softly as he buries his chin in my shoulder. "I... I really thought you would run to save yourself." he adds, his sincerity evident in the calmness of his tone.

I'm at a loss for words; How do I even begin to express my gratitude to the man who risked everything for my safety? Finally, I find my voice, trembling yet resolute: "No, I should be the one thanking you. What you did back there... it's beyond words. Why? Why would you put your life on the line for me like that? Is this truly what your love looks like, Xavier?"

I search for his eyes, hoping to find some answers, but he shyly diverts his gaze, keeping his face buried in my shoulder as he evades my question.

"Answer me!" I insist, my grip firm as he struggles to break free from my embrace. I pull him back, refusing to let go.

Finally, he meets my gaze, his eyes filled with an unsettling mix of emotions. "I just felt like you deserve more to live than I do," he says in a faint voice.

"What?!" I exclaim, confusion flooding my mind as I try to grasp his words.

"Nevermind," he replies softly, managing to pull away. He steps back, examining the cuts on his skin, a fleeting look of concern crossing his face.

Without thinking, I rush back to him, my heart racing. I seize the moment and kiss him deeply, pouring all my feelings into that one electrifying touch. It catches him completely off guard, but I need him to know how much he means to me. My hands instinctively find their way to his back, pulling him closer as I lose myself in the intensity of our connection, my gratitude and affection spilling over in every heartbeat.
