A few days had passed since the walk in the park, and Aria couldn't shake the feeling that something had shifted between her and Lukas. The more she thought about it, the more she realized how much had changed since they first met. The tension of the mate bond that had once felt overwhelming now seemed like something she was ready to embrace.

She sat on her bed, phone in hand, debating whether to call him. The old Aria would have hesitated, but she wasn't that person anymore. She took a deep breath and dialed his number. The phone rang twice before she heard his familiar voice.

"Hey," Lukas answered, his tone warm and calm.

"Hey," Aria replied, suddenly feeling a bit nervous. But she pushed through it. "I was wondering... do you want to go out? Like, for dinner or something?"

There was a brief pause on the other end before Lukas answered, his voice a mix of surprise and hope. "Yeah, I'd like that."

A few hours later, they met at a small diner just outside of town. It was cozy, with red vinyl booths and the faint hum of old-fashioned music playing in the background. Aria spotted Lukas sitting by the window, and when their eyes met, he smiled, standing up as she approached the table.

They settled into their seats, ordering drinks and small bites to eat. The conversation started off light, the two of them catching up on what they'd been up to since their walk in the park. But there was an underlying anticipation between them, a question waiting to be asked.

Eventually, Lukas leaned forward slightly, his fingers tracing the rim of his glass. "So, why'd you ask me to come out tonight?" His voice was gentle, but there was a nervous edge to it, as though he wasn't sure what her answer would be.

Aria sighed softly, feeling the weight of the moment. She knew what she wanted to say, but the words felt heavy on her tongue. Finally, she took a breath and met his eyes. "I've been thinking about this fate thing," she began slowly.

Lukas chuckled nervously, but there was a glimmer of hope in his eyes. "Yeah?" he asked.

She nodded, gathering her thoughts. "I've been thinking about how, before all of this... truthfully, I wouldn't have appreciated you the way you deserve. I think somehow, the person in charge of fate-whoever that is-knew that. You said we're destined to be together, but I think there's a timeline. I wasn't ready then, but I've waited and thought it through."

Lukas watched her intently, his expression softening with every word.

"And now..." Aria hesitated for just a second before continuing. "Now I think you're perfect for me."

For a moment, neither of them spoke. Lukas stared at her, his eyes wide, as if he couldn't quite believe what he was hearing. Then a smile spread across his face, slow and genuine.

"Aria..." Lukas began, but words seemed to fail him. Instead, he reached across the table and took her hand in his. The warmth of his touch felt reassuring, grounding her in the moment.

"You've always been perfect for me," he finally said, his voice low but full of emotion.

Aria smiled, feeling a sense of peace settle over her. For the first time in a long while, everything felt right. Fate had brought them here, to this moment, and Aria was ready to see where it would lead.
