Six months had passed, and everything felt lighter now. The crushing weight of grief had lifted, and Aria had come to terms with her loss. She'd worked through the pain, and now, instead of dwelling on what she couldn't change, she cherished the good moments. Sebastian would always be a part of her, etched into her memories like a lesson in resilience and love. She knew she'd never forget him. But life, as she'd learned, moved forward, and she had decided to open herself up to new possibilities.

Her relationship with Damian had become more sibling-like than anything else. He was her rock through the hardest times, but over the last few months, she'd become less dependent on him. It helped that Damian had found someone too. Rachel, a vampire like him, had come into his life unexpectedly, and the two of them had been inseparable since. Though he still spent a lot of time with Aria, she liked that Damian wasn't always alone, and it was comforting to see him happy.

Aria felt content knowing she didn't need to lean on anyone anymore. She was stronger now, more at peace with herself and the world around her.

It was a calm afternoon when she decided to go for a walk in the park, the autumn leaves crunching beneath her feet. The air was crisp, and she inhaled deeply, appreciating the simple beauty of it all. As she rounded a corner near the lake, she suddenly spotted a familiar figure. Lukas.

He was standing there, looking out over the water with that quiet, contemplative expression he always had. When he turned and saw her, a smile spread across his face.

"Aria," he greeted, his voice warm. "It's been a while."

"Yeah, it has," Aria replied, her heart skipping slightly at the sound of his voice. It had been about two months since they last saw each other, though it felt longer. Despite the time apart, she could still feel the subtle pull of their mate bond. It was like an invisible thread connecting them, no matter how much time passed.

For a moment, they stood there, talking casually about life-about how things had been for each of them. Lukas had been keeping busy, running his pack, dealing with the responsibilities that came with it. He didn't mention anyone special in his life, and Aria didn't press. There was still an unspoken tension between them, though not the hostile kind. It was more like the tension of something unresolved, something waiting.

As their conversation wound down, Lukas shifted slightly and smiled again, though there was a hint of sadness in his eyes. "Well, I should get going. It was good to see you, Aria."

He turned to walk away, and Aria watched him for a moment, feeling that familiar ache in her chest. The mate bond was still there, tugging gently at her heart. As she watched Lukas's form retreat farther into the distance, something stirred inside her.

Sebastian's memory, and the lesson he had taught her, echoed in her mind. Life's crazy, and you never know what's going to happen.

Before she could overthink it, she called out, "Lukas!"

He stopped and turned around, his eyes curious as he looked back at her.

"Can I join you?" she asked, surprising herself with the words.

Lukas's smile widened, and after a moment, he nodded. "Yeah, I'd like that."

Aria caught up to him, and together, they started walking side by side. It was a small step, but for the first time in a long while, it felt like the right one.
