Chapter 12

Y/n's POV:

" There is a new student joining today. He's a unique student indeed, along with a familiar friend within this room, and I'm sure he'll be a remarkable student,"
Dumbledore announced to everyone, ignoring everyone's whispers of curiosity and excitement as they talked amongst one and other. Y/n bit the inside of her cheek nervously, her instinct was telling her that it was someone she knew, so she didn't know whether to feel nervous or excited.

" Welcome Riaz Ronroe,"

Y/n's body tensed up from shock, her eyes widening and lips parting from surprise. She turned her head towards the large doors and watched as he walked through, his pointy ears making people whisper in shock. But that didn't stop the girls from finding him attractive. They whispered amongst themselves, giggling with each other and blushing.

Y/n didn't think she'd see a friend from home in a long time. Riaz met Y/n's gaze as he walked and his smirk seemed to curve up and become more cocky and winked. Y/n chuckled, rolling her eyes, she knew how flirty and unserious he can be at times.

He sat on the stool in front of the hall and had the sorting hat placed it on his head. He was highly confused at why he needed to wear it but didn't stop them. " Slytherin!" The hat yelled and the Slytherin house cheered, excited to have a fae on the team, but Draco didn't cheer at all. In fact, he scowled and rolled his eyes. Whereas all the girls in the house were glad by the way they sent each other excited grins.

When everyone got up to leave, Y/n wasted no time and ran over to Riaz, jumping and hugging him tightly. He chuckled, hugging back instantly, his muscular arms tightening around her when she did. He may be flirty, but he deeply cares for her and it's clear he had a sense of relief wash over him when he saw that she was alright,
" You've missed me this much, huh?" He asked, smirking as Y/n pulled away.

Y/n wiped a tear, laughing, " Yeah, I have you big brute. I didn't think I'd see you again. How's Mother and Father, are they alright?" Y/n asked, concerned. Riaz nodded, placing a firm hand on her head and ruffled her hair, " They're alright. They knew you could get out of this situation yourself, but if you need help, always ask. Besides, they sent me here to protect you from threats," His gaze turned towards the male students who sent him jealous looks that he was so close to a beauty like Y/n. But it seemed to darken slightly.

Harry walked over with Ron and Hermione beside him and wrapped his arm over her shoulders, pulling her into his chest as he kissed your forehead, " You know Riaz?" Harry asked, smiling, but it was evident within his gaze that he was suspicious of how close he was to Y/n.
Y/n smiled and nodded, " Yeah, we grew up together," Harry hummed before walking over, holding out his hand, " Harry Potter,"

Riaz narrowed his eyes in suspicion, his piercing purple gaze staring into his brown eyes as if he was looking straight into his soul. It was clear to him that they both were in a relationship, which he didn't mind with, but he had to be sure that he was perfect for her. He had to be sure he was treating her like the future Queen Y/n is, because someday, she will be.
" Riaz. Pleasure to meet you, Harry Potter,"
" It sure is," Harry replied, the tension between them both rather thick and intense.

His gaze then drifted down to the centre of Y/n's chest, his eyebrows frowning. All Fae could sense when one is missing their life source. It was an instinct they all possessed, some Fae are gifted to even see it. They explain it as a small, coloured glow in their chests, like a firefly in the night.
Just brighter and slightly bigger.

" Where's your life source? Do you know?" He asked, crossing his arms protectively. Y/n nodded, pointing over to Draco, who had been staring at Y/n and Riaz the whole time. He was leant against the stone wall with his mates, they were talking almost each other but it was clear Draco wasn't listening. He looked annoyed? Y/n couldn't quite tell, " His Father has it in a necklace around his neck,"

" Perfect. All we do is torture him until his Father complies," Riaz glared, opening his hand to see a large flame of fire in it. That was Riaz's element.
Fire. Y/n quickly grabbed his wrist, pulling him away with a sigh, she knew he would react like this. Despite that, she felt strange when he threatened Draco. It made her heart twist, does she really care for Draco that much? She wondered herself but shoved those thoughts aside for now.

" His Father doesn't care about him the way mine does. He wouldn't care if you threatened, tortured or kill him. Besides, if Lucius finds out that you're after my life source then he'll make me quit Hogwarts and go back to the manor,"
Y/n frowned at the thought. Riaz seemed to calm down at Y/n's touch and nodded, seeing her troubled expression. He watched as Harry gripped her hand tightly but softly, pulling her into a hug.

Riaz felt something off about Y/n when Harry got touchy with her, even if it was just simple acts like hugging and holding hands. He could see it in her eyes, like he could read her mind through them.

He knew in that moment she didn't truly have feelings for him.

He almost laughed, wondering how stupid this brunette boy was when it comes to women. Especially Fae women. Riaz being the charming man he is, has had plenty of girlfriends to figure out the language and body language of women. But sometimes, some still surprises him, because most men don't know anything about how women act, think or do. They're both fierce, loving and unpredictable.
