Chapter 20

Y/n's POV:

" I'm sorry, okay? I didn't want you to freak out. You know how dangerous the ability is " Y/n responded nervously with guilt written on her face. It was true. Blood manipulators are extremely rare and highly dangerous if the power is used in a bad way. No one can stop it if someone uses it, they'll be vulnerable.

Riaz let out a heavy sigh before placing his hand on her head, ruffling her hair with a small smile.
" Whatever. I don't care. You're still my best friend, just tell me next time?" Y/n nodded, thanking him, relieved that the weight was off her shoulders and that he didn't take it to heart.

A day later, the second trial began. And it was to save a person from the mer- people, or sirens, other people call them. Y/n watched beside her as the two students from the other schools ate something that made them breathe underwater.
Matron and Feronica.

Dumbledore gave Y/n a small cup that contained a strange liquid inside, she could tell by the horrific smell, which made her almost gag when it hit her nostrils. " Drink. It will help you breathe underwater," Y/n thanked him and downed the drink, needing to cough into her elbow at the sour and horrid taste. It abused her taste buds in a nasty way and left a horrible after taste.

She winced when her legs began to change and morph into something different. It was painful, but not enough to make her scream or cry. The next thing she knew she had a mermaid tale the colour of the ocean. It was large and beautiful, like something out of a fairytale. Y/n took off her top, to reveal her bikini top underneath, ignoring the way the boy students blushed heavily at the sight, flustered and in awe at how truly beautiful she was.

Then the sign went off.

Y/n instantly dived into the water, the coldness hitting her skin like a wave, pricking her like needles. Y/n swam deeper as fast as she could to where all the seaweed was on the floor. As she went deeper, she saw the architecture and the sound of the sirens; who all carried tridents.
They eyed her carefully and dangerously, making sure that she didn't disobey the rules and conditions of their own.

Matron, who was a shark, grabbed Luna Lovegood's rope instantly and began to swim to the surface to take first place. Feronica had gills on her neck, and she had taken Neville Longbottom. The only person left for Y/n was Draco. Y/n cut his rope and swam to the surface, and when she did, the coldness off the breeze felt both amazing and horrible.

Draco coughed as he was out of the water, looking around confused then met her gaze. Y/n had saved him yet again. It was awkward. Y/n could feel the tension between them both after what happened a few days ago when they almost kissed. Y/n swam to where the school was and felt her legs turn back to normal. She climbed the ladder, now only wearing a bikini top and bottoms. She was absolutely freezing. Her skin shivered with every move she made and her teeth chattered slightly uncontrollably.

Riaz instantly hugged Y/n, clearly worried for her safety and kissed her forehead in a brotherly way,
" Good job," He spoke. Draco walked over and placed a towel around Y/n, covering her body from the looks from the male students. He didn't like the feeling he had when they did. It felt like a twist in his stomach, a feeling that made him want to lash out at them and cover her with his own body. But he remained silent and just sent them a small glare then walking away.

Y/n's heart warmed up at the action, not helping the smile that formed on her face. She couldn't help but fall for him further, no matter how hard she tried not too. It was like a magnetic pull that can never be broken or stopped that pulled her towards him constantly. Nobody has made her feel this way before, but she loved this feeling.

After the first trial, Y/n immediately had a bath and went to bed. After the coldness she experienced today, she slept in her fluffy pyjamas with a thick, fluffy blanket. Y/n managed to come first in the second trial, because Feronica had lost her way in the seaweed and came last. So Y/n wasn't doing too bad for Hogwarts.
