Y/n's POV:

Y/n has been taking note of Draco's actions for the last week. And she knew something was wrong, she could easily tell. The way he always stayed silent even if front of his friends, the way his smile wasn't there and when he does smile it was forced. Her instinct told her it had something to do with his Father and she knew she needed to figure something out.

Y/n awaited on the astronomy tower, watching the moonlight glow and emit its brightness from afar. The stars twinkled like diamonds across the dark sky, making it a beautiful scenery to witness. " You wanted to see me?" Draco asked, leaning against the balcony as he stated silently, but his gaze never left Y/n. It was strange not seeing him insult her in any way or be arrogant or cocky, since that's what he masks himself as.

" What's wrong? I've been noticing how down you've been lately," Y/n asked, the concern in her eyes to easy to recognise it almost made him lash out, but he remained silent. He felt the butterflies within his stomach flutter at the thought of her actually caring for him. So much that she could tell when he was off or feeling down.

He didn't answer and just avoided eye contact, staring at the floor through his shaggy, blonde hair that was slightly messy from needing to get out of bed to meet up. Y/n had to restrain her heart from beating too much from the sight. He looked like something from a painting. He was ethereal in that exact moment, with the moonlight complimenting his grey eyes even more.

" Is it with your Father?" Y/n asked, not noticing her fists clenching tightly from anger. Draco noticed this and let out a heavy exhale,
" As you may know, the Goblet of Fire trials will begin in a few days, and he wants me to put my name in," He confessed, knowing how stubborn she can be. If he didn't tell her then she'd figure out a way to get it out of him, no matter what.

Y/n let out a small gasp of horror, she knew exactly what they were. They were extremely dangerous and were dangerous enough to take a life. Y/n's eyebrows furrowing from worry and confusion, her heart no longer racing from feeling flustered, but worry for him.
" I- I don't understand, why would he want that? You could die! " Y/n boasted, her voice shaking from pure terror, and it was something Draco had never seen before.

He responded, his gaze now locked back onto her as he read every expression, every word and every action she made, " He said it's to get the family an even better reputation," He shrugged, his heart warming up, knowing that Y/n truly cared for him, but it made him wonder if there was something more within your feelings and heart. Maybe he was just being ridiculous, but maybe he wasn't.

Tears formed in Y/n's eyes at the thought of him in danger and not her being able to help. Her body betrayed her and her emotions took over. Some of them shedded, the golden tears rolling down her cheeks. Draco quickly got up from leaning against the balcony and used his sleeve to wipe the tears, " Stop. I promise I'll be fine, okay? I'll fight. You really think some stupid trials are going to stop me?" He asked, forcing a smile once again as he cupped her cheeks with his hands, that were covered in his robe sleeves so they could soak up the golden tears.

Y/n knew in that moment that she finally got to see the true Draco she's longed to see. And he was perfect. With a caring personality and it only bloomed when he knew someone cares for him properly. And he cared for her. Her tears soon stopped as she nodded, leaning into his touch without thinking, his warmth oddly comforting, but she knew what she had to do.

Draco admired her features, his grey eyes glancing to her soft lips before quickly stepping back before anything showed. He looked away,
" Thank you, for caring, it's nice to see. But we should get back to our dorms," He then walked down the stairs and back to the Slytherin room.

" What is it you wish to speak off? And make it quick, I have better time to waste than be with you," Lucius remarked nastily within the manor, Dumbledore had allowed Y/n to nip to the Malfoy manor without anyone knowing to have a conversation with him.

She was sat across from him, trying to hide her nerves as she sipped her tea, her eyes glancing at the familiar light blue glow within his necklace.
Her life source. But that wasn't her main goal right now.
" Draco told me about you wanting him to be put in the Goblet of Fire. His name. But chose me instead, not him," Y/n exclaimed, watching his reaction.
He scoffed, " Why would I do that? He's my son, and you're a mere servant who obeys at my will," He smirked, holding the silver necklace he wore that contained her life source, but she ignored that and swallowed the lump forming in her throat.

" I'm a Fae that serves the Malfoy's' and have a better chance of survival due to my abilities. Draco won't have none," Y/n lied, but it was a point that only Lucius believed. Draco was strong enough to go through, yes, but she couldn't handle the thought of him being in danger. So she had to convince him using his own language and opinions.

" And what would the people think when the Malfoy's successful servant had survived the trials? It would be legendary and the first in Hogwarts history," Y/n stated, watching as he was now deep in thought. He was silent for a few moments, the tension in the room thick, too thick to even breathe in.

Then he let out a heavy sigh and stood up, glaring down at her, " Fine. Take his place, but if you fail me, I'll kill you myself," He then stormed off out of the room, leaving Y/n with a relieved smile on her face despite being threatened and putting her life in danger more.

Narcissa heard the conversation from outside the doorway with a happy smile, glad and relieved that someone cared for her son that wasn't just her. And she knew that love was in the air and was manifesting. She could feel it.
