Y/n's POV:

" We have a new student that will join the last years. This will be a change in history because she is not like us in any way, but I know by looking at her that she will be a splendid student in Hogwarts. Please treat her with respect and welcome her with love. Y/n L/n. Please step forward so we can sort you into your house,"
Dumbledore announced before mentioning her name. Her whole body tensed when all eyes were on her. She hated so much attention, it made her stomach feel empty and nauseous.

Y/n slowly got up and walked up the front, ignoring the whispers once again of a few students. At this point, she had gotten used to people whispering behind her back.

" She's so pretty,"

" I haven't seen anyone so beautiful before,"

" She must be extremely powerful,"

" I don't like her one bit,"

Y/n turned around and sat on the wooden stool, looking up as Professor Mcgonagall placed the sorting hat on her head. Y/n refrained from gasping from shock as it began to talk.
It was a crooked, male voice, " Hm, I see, what an interesting one indeed. A lot of courage and bravery I see, but there's also a spark of fire within you when it comes to protecting the ones you love," He exclaimed, humming in thought.

" However, you have a lot of potential when it comes to your power and you will do anything to make sure no one comes in your way of your goal," He was struggling, Y/n and the teachers knew that from the way he was muttering to himself.

" Gryffindor!"

( A/N: For those who are a Slytherin like me, don't be mad that I placed her in this house. It's just for the plot of the story and for extra drama between her and Draco )

The Gryffindor table cheered as Y/n walked back over to her friends, who hugged her tightly all together. Y/n laughed, her smile was the definition of beauty, making some male students blush ever so slightly. One thing was for certain this year, a lot of people will have a crush on her.
Y/n sat beside Harry as the breakfast feast began, all the food appearing on the table after a simple spell. Her eyes widened in surprise before instantly digging in.

Hermione wondered as she placed some egg in her mouth, " I've read that Fae possess an elemental ability each, right? What's yours, Y/n?"
Some of the Gryffindor students around Y/n listened curiously, also wondering the same thing. Most of the students in Gryffindor were more curious about Y/n than fearing her, which was a rare sight for Y/n to see.

" Water. I manipulate water," Y/n responded as she sipped some orange juice from her glass.
" That's bloody brilliant," Ron commented with a shocked face of awe. Neville asked with a grin,
" What does it feel like when your life source gets taken from you? Or when someone hurts it? I've always wondered," Harry kicked Neville's leg under the table, signalling to change the topic since the question was quite personal.

Y/n's eyebrows furrowed at the question, the memory of Lucius once placing a hex curse on it was excruciating. " It's like being set on fire just without dying. All your bones and everything within your body just burns and it feels like all your skin is being pealed off, bit by bit, until you eventually drop dead," Y/n described, the memory making a tear form, in which she quickly wiped away before her friends noticed, but the three of them did.

" How awful," Hermione commented, her expression sad and sympathetic. She placed her hand over Y/n's from beside her, squeezing it gently as her brown eyes turned towards her two male friends, who had the exact same expression.
Their hearts ached for Y/n and what she has to go through, it only enraged them more that the Malfoy family accepted this like it was normal.
Y/n forced a smile, " But I'm here now, right? As long as I do what Lucius wishes, then I'll be fine,"
Y/n exclaimed, trying to stay positive.

" Lucius has it? Your life source?" Harry asked, his expression now darkening at the mention of his name as his gaze drifted over to Draco from afar. He must have sensed his stare because they made direct eye contact, but glaring full of hatred, yet Draco still managed to have a smirk plastered on his cocky face. Y/n remained quiet, realising she had said to much to them. That only answered Harry's question.

" We promise we'll get it back for you, Y/n, at some point. We all hate that man and his son,
it's not fair that you are treated like this," Harry said with a reassuring smile plastered along his lips. Y/n thanked him, returning the smile with a sad one as they both stared at each other for a few seconds before returning to their food before first lesson began.

Ron and Hermione witnessed and noticed the exchange but didn't question any further.
