— Hold On
DIZZY FELT THE weight of Sofia's death. It kind of worried her. She knew someone had dealt the girl the drugs, but she didn't want to delve deeper into who did. She wasn't over the memory of blood soaking her shoes or when Jace swept her away when she couldn't pry her eyes away.
She was kind of thankful he'd been there. For a person who'd been absent most of the time from her life. He came back in like being her savior had been his rightful spot.
The day dragged by slowly at college. Classes were something she lost interest in as the days went by.
She found herself outside smoking a cigarette with Freddie, so Blood couldn't castrate them in front of the whole school. They were silent, just enjoying one another's company.
"You're the only one who hasn't mentioned her," Freddie said mentioning her himself. Dizzy looked over at him and chuckled to herself. "Why is that?"
"I know what it's like to be fucked over. You don't want to hear about it. Until you're ready at least," Dizzy responded. Freddie gave her an incredulous look before taking another drag.
"Fucked over by Effy or Jace?" He quizzed and Dizzy shrugged.
"Effy and I have been friends for a long time. Getting fucked over is almost out of the question. Believe it or not," Dizzy said before taking a pull from her cigarette.
"So Jace is like your Effy," Freddie observed and Dizzy shook her head.
"Nobodies like Effy," Dizzy shot down his comparison. Just like there is no one like Effy, there was no one like Jace. Freddie nodded and looked down dejectedly. "Take her off the pedestal and treat her like an equal."
"Is that what you do?" Freddie asked. Dizzy shrugged and crushed her cigarette with the heel of her black boots.
She walked off leaving him alone to think. It wasn't like she'd lie. She knew Effy best of anyone. Maybe even Panda. She lived through things with her. And maybe Effy was a shit human being, but Dizzy had her fair share of fuck ups too.

DIZZY COULDN'T HELP but notice the eyes on her as she went down the hall. It was a normal day. She had to keep reminding herself that everything was fine. In all honesty, there'd been this feeling of doom looming over her since Sofia killed herself.
She leaned up against her locker and counted down the minutes. She couldn't seem to wait much longer to get the hell out. Effy had been back, they met up shortly. College had just started and things already seemed fucked.
"Are you waiting for something?" Jace asked, literally appearing out of nowhere. Dizzy didn't jump at his sudden voice, but turned to it intrigued.
