The smell of coffee woke me up and I stretched and reached across the bed, feeling Austin's still warm empty spot. It was dark out, I sat up confused and swung my feet off the edge of the bed. I grabbed Austin's shirt from the floor and pulled it on... once again to go find him in the middle of the night. Coffee? At this hour? I don't even know what time it is but it's very much too early for coffee. Maybe he can't sleep. I sighed as I grabbed a hair tie from my dresser and tossed my hair up in a bun. He has been sleeping so much better these last few days and I had actually gotten him back on a somewhat normal schedule. You really can't change a nocturnal creature completely I suppose.

He was standing in his boxers when I walked into the kitchen, stirring cream into a steaming mug. He turned around to put it back in the fridge and saw me. His sleepy face lighting up with a grin... he's so damn cute. His hair was wild and slightly flattened on one side from his sleep, I giggled softly at him as I pulled his shirt around my naked body. It was always chilly in this damn house now.

"What are you doing up sweetheart?" I yawned as he stepped to me and wrapped me in his arms rubbing my back to warm me up.

"About to come wake you up baby. I told you we would have cake for breakfast." He said as he kissed my forehead and rested his cheek on my head, I felt him breathing me in.

"Baby... it's..." I shuffled us around a few steps as he chuckled so I could see the clock on my stove. "5:38 in the morning. This is early even for me, let's sleep instead."

"Listen to her! Too early for the early bird? You promised me sunrise in the hot tub. You aren't getting out of it." He laughed, pulling me with him to the counter where he was fixing our coffee and had our slices of cake waiting with forks. "Plus you have to leave early so..."

"Early as in like 10 Bear, not 6.." I laughed and pressed my lips to his. "This is pretty cute though, I least we get to spend a couple more hours together. I can sleep on the drive. Edie's dad gives us the same safety speech he has given us for the past 10 years."

"Promise me you will be safe Jo, and smart too. The water, and you girls drinking. It makes me nervous." He said sounding concerned, that stack of worried wrinkles piling up on his forehead.

"We always are, I never get in without a life jacket. Thomas isn't drinking, and has driven that boat his entire life. Plus he was a lifeguard when we were in high school." Edie's bother had spent every summer in college coming back home to work at the local YMCA. "And Gabby's sister, Hannah, her husband is a firefighter. We are in good hands, I promise."

"I'm sending you off for a week, on a boat, with a goddamn lifeguard and a fireman? You will never come back, I swear I've seen this porn before." He said cracking a grin at me as he passed me my coffee and headed towards the back sliding door. The cover was already off the hot tub and I could see the steam rising off of the swirling water.

"You know better Austin! They are happily married, Hannah and Justin have been together since literally middle school and you might remember me talking about Gabby and Thomas' wedding last fall.. we.. we didn't talk much then though." I added, realizing he might not remember any of that time at all. He pushed open the glass door and I hurried across the back deck and down the couple steps to the small lower patio. I sat my mug down on the edge of hot tub, quickly stripped his shirt off, laying it beside the stack of towels Austin must have brought out earlier and stepped down into the perfectly hot bubbling water.

"Don't wait on me or anything Mouse.." he chuckled as he handed me his mug to hold as he stepped out of his boxers and climbed in himself.

"It's cold!"

"Wait till there's snow on the ground, I'll have you out here every night. I'm gonna get us fire pit put in over there. Just close enough to warm up here and around the benches." He said as he settled into the spot he has figured out is the most comfortable for us both to curl into. He held his hand out for his mug and then me, and I gladly came and settled against his chest, between his legs. I grinned at his future plans for the house.
