Time flew by quickly.
In the blink of an eye, only 20 days remained before Minji and Hanni's honeymoon. During this time, Hanni went to the hospital every day to visit her sister. She watched as Hyein recovered little by little until she was finally allowed to leave the hospital.
"Unnie, do I really have to wait until New Year's?" Hyein asked, feeling unsettled that her sister-in-law hadn't come to visit her.
"Remember what I said before?"
Hyein was still unwilling to accept it. "Then... can I at least make a call?"
Hanni completely ignored Hyein's request. "When you arrive, make sure to get along with your classmates. And don't overexert yourself."
"Okay." In the end, Hyein couldn't get what she wanted. She slung her backpack over her shoulder and walked toward the waiting room, glancing back repeatedly with every step.
Hanni smiled and took out her phone. Minji had sent her a voice message about 10 minutes earlier, saying, "Darling, our house is all decorated. Wanna come over and take a look?"
Hanni replied with a voice message. "I'm on my way."
Hanni hailed a cab and headed straight to her new house in the southern part of the city. She pushed open the familiar vermillion front door and saw Minji by the swing, with Kai nearby.
"You're here." Minji smiled at Hanni as she gently pushed the swing.
Hanni returned her wife's smile. Out of the corner of her eye, she noticed something unusual in the courtyard. It was a large punching bag. "Is that?" She pointed toward the punching bag in the corner.
"Oh," Minji explained, "I had someone set it up. You know I have a mental illness. Whenever it flares up, I can punch the bag to stay in control."
Hanni blinked, processing her wife's words. Although Minji often took advantage of her and acted like a rogue, she had never seen her wife's mental illness surface. In fact, she had almost forgotten about it entirely.
"What are the... symptoms of your illness?" Hanni asked cautiously.
"Why? Are you scared?" Minji suddenly leaned in close, grabbing her wife's chin before coldly saying, "Too late!"
Hanni calmly shook her head. "I'm not scared."
Minji laughed and released her chin. "Don't worry, I'd never hit my wife."
"I thought you'd say you don't hit women," Hanni remarked.
Minji chuckled darkly but said nothing.
"Let's go inside and take a look." Hanni brushed past Minji and headed toward the house.
The once-empty house was now filled with furniture and decorations, making it feel more like home. After surveying the living room, Hanni moved to the bedroom she had prepared for Kai.
Kai's room was next to the master bedroom, decorated with sky-blue wallpaper. It had a small bed and a mini shelf filled with jigsaw puzzles. A dark blue rug lay on the floor, where Kai could comfortably lie down and play.
Hanni knelt down and asked, "Do you like it?"
Kai didn't respond. He simply grabbed a puzzle from the shelf and dumped the pieces onto the rug to start playing.
Minji and Hanni left Kai in his room and headed toward the study.
Hanni looked at the empty bookshelves and said, "Help me move in tomorrow. I have a lot of books."
"You're not going to wait until after our honeymoon to move in?" Minji smiled flirtatiously. "Or could it be that... you can't wait to try out our new bed?"
