Danielle, who had been sitting in the car, suddenly jumped out, nearly blocking Hanni, who was holding Minji's arm. She shouted to a nearby security guard, "Call the police!"
"Don't call the police!" Hanni quickly intervened, stopping the guard just as he was reaching for his radio.
Turning to Minji, Hanni's voice was laced with frustration. "What are you doing? Let him go!"
"It's really something to see two women trying to protect him," Minji said with a huff, her disdain for Jay evident.
"I—"
"I'm just standing up for my boyfriend against your nonsense!" Danielle cut in, unable to tolerate Minji's insult to Jay any longer.
The three of them froze, momentarily stunned by Danielle's sudden confession, as she laid bare the secret of her long-standing crush.
Jay, who had been struggling to free himself from Minji's grip, suddenly stilled and turned, studying Danielle's profile.
Minji blinked, processing the new information before finally releasing Jay with a smile. "Your boyfriend? Why didn't you say so earlier?" She patted Jay's shoulder, her mood lightening. Turning to Hanni, she added, "Let's clear up this misunderstanding."
"Why are you even here?" Hanni asked, still trying to make sense of everything.
"I came to pick you up from work," Minji replied earnestly.
Hanni frowned, still puzzled. "You came to pick me up? What about Kai?"
"He's in the car," Minji said, pointing toward the vehicle.
"You left Kai alone in the car?" Hanni asked, incredulous as she glanced at the jeep parked nearby.
"I... I'll head back now." Minji had intended to explain she'd locked the car, but the look in Hanni's eyes made her decide not to argue.
Danielle and Jay exchanged glances.
"That was quite a scene. Are you okay, boss?" Hanni quickly turned to Jay, concern evident.
"I'm fine, but... do you know that woman?" Jay asked, still looking confused.
Danielle interjected, her eyes widening with realization. "Wait, is she your wife?"
Hanni's eyes widened slightly before she nodded.
"Is she really your wife?" Danielle asked, still incredulous.
"She might have misunderstood. I'm really sorry about her behavior," Hanni said, bowing her head slightly in apology.
"Didn't you tell me she was different from the rumors?" Danielle exclaimed.
"Wait... wife? Whose wife?" Jay cut in, completely lost as he tried to process everything.
At that moment, Minji walked over with Kai. Hanni waited for her to join them and introduced everyone. "This is my wife, Kim Minji. Minji, this is my friend Danielle, and my boss, Jay."
Minji smiled politely. "I'm really sorry. This was all a misunderstanding. I thought you were bothering my wife."
"No... I wasn't... I mean... when did this all...?" Jay stammered, still trying to wrap his head around the situation, while wincing slightly from Minji's earlier grip.
"Boss, are you okay?" Danielle asked, sounding a bit worried.
"I'm pretty strong, some bruising is expected," Minji said matter-of-factly. "Just apply some medicinal wine when you get home, or I can bring you some tomorrow."
