Because Hanni had been standing for too long, her vision darkened as she stood up, and her legs gave out, causing her to collapse.
Minji quickly caught Hanni in her arms, bending slightly to pull her wife directly into an embrace.
"Huh?" Hanni murmured, instinctively grabbing onto Minji's shoulders with her hands.
"I'm taking you back to the car," Minji whispered.
Though Hanni felt uneasy, she remained silent in her wife's arms. Minji carried her back to the car, carefully fastened her seatbelt, and then drove toward the hotel.
"Did your friends... already leave?" Hanni suddenly recalled the girl with the snake as the car doors closed.
"They just said their goodbyes," Minji replied.
"It was such a rare meeting. Didn't you want to chat with them a bit longer?"
"No," Minji smiled and said, "I was worried you'd start crying again."
"I'm really terrified of snakes." Hanni still shivered at the thought.
Minji suddenly reached out to hold Hanni's cold hand, her expression growing pained with guilt. "I thought I could protect you, but I didn't expect to frighten you this much. I'm so sorry."
Hanni lowered her gaze and stayed silent. Minji's guilt weighed on her, making her want to cry. Ever since that night when Minji brought her home and handed her Dr. Lee's business card, Hanni had known that their marriage wouldn't be easy, but she had no other choice. No matter the reason, she ended up marrying Minji, someone who was still recovering from psychological treatment.
Hanni struggled with managing their marriage. After many sleepless nights, she chose the most optimistic future she could imagine. If she couldn't choose how it started, she could at least try to shape the future. That's why she had asked Minji that day if she loved her.
Hanni thought, if you love me, then I'll do my best to love you too. Can we work together to slowly turn this unequal marriage into something ordinary?
When they arrived at the hotel, Minji ordered a table full of dishes from the restaurant and brought it all to Hanni herself.
Seeing the cautious expression on her wife's face, Hanni couldn't help but ask, "Why did you order so much food?"
"It's all for you." Minji said, almost pleading.
"I can't eat all this," Hanni said, confused.
"It doesn't matter if you don't finish it. Just eat what you like."
"But there's nothing here I actually want to eat," Hanni said, trying to take advantage of the moment to speak her mind.
"Then what would you like? I'll order it for you right now." Minji raised her hand, calling for the waiter again.
"You... why didn't you ask me what I wanted before ordering?" Hanni tried to keep her tone calm.
"I..." Minji hesitated. When she was ordering, she had thought about getting more dishes, but she hadn't considered what Hanni might actually like. Feeling awkward, she replied, "I didn't think about that."
"Minji, what do you think... of home?" Hanni suddenly asked.
"Home?" Minji was confused by the sudden question, but after a moment of thought, she answered, "You, me, and Kai living together?"
"Do you want me... to really live with you?" Hanni gently prodded. "Do you think we'll live well together in the future?"
Minji seemed to grasp something and looked into Hanni's eyes, her voice becoming guarded. "Are you... thinking of leaving me?"
