Hanni brewed two cups of coffee and placed one in front of Danielle, saying, "I only have instant coffee here."
"I still want coffee, so hurry up." Danielle moved her cup closer.
Hanni sank into the couch with a soft smile, cradling her coffee cup like a lifeline. "It's nothing, really. Long story short? I went on a blind date, got married, and even took a honeymoon."
"A blind date? Wait, you went on a blind date? Why would you do that?" Danielle fired off her questions, brows knitting together in confusion.
Hanni took a deep breath, striving to maintain her composure. "It was unexpected. You know how worried I've been about my sister after everything that happened. I guess I overreacted, and my second uncle started avoiding me."
"Still, he's your second uncle. Isn't that a bit much?" Danielle replied, recalling the sadness that had clouded Hanni's eyes during that time.
"You still don't get it." Hanni sighed, not wanting to dwell on the experience.
"Come on, keep talking," Danielle encouraged her.
Hanni took a sip before continuing. "I heard my second uncle's family was going to the JW Marriott Hotel, so I went there early that morning to run into them. At first, it was just a blind date for my cousin..."
"So you actually crashed your cousin's blind date?" Danielle was stunned.
"What do you think?" Hanni rolled her eyes. "To be fair, it was probably doomed from the start."
"The person fell for you on the spot, didn't they?" Danielle's eyes sparkled with interest. "Isn't this like a romance drama unfolding before me?"
Hanni didn't interrupt Danielle's imagination, watching her friend's mind run wild.
"Though your second uncle may not be a billionaire, the family has millions in assets. Surely, they'd set your cousin up with someone decent." Danielle put down her coffee cup, nudged Hanni playfully, and teased, "So, who's the lucky one?"
"Someone from the Kim family," Hanni admitted.
"The Kim family? As in, the Kim family..." Danielle's mind raced through all the influential families she knew until a thought struck her. "Wait, don't tell me it's Kim Minji!"
"Yes, Kim Minji," Hanni confirmed.
"Kim Minji! The eldest young madam, the one who returned from the military as the golden child of the Kim family?" Danielle exclaimed, looking at her friend in disbelief.
"You know her?" Hanni asked, amused.
"Well, not exactly..." Danielle scratched her head, trying to recall what she'd heard. "But I've definitely heard about her. Apparently, she's quite the character."
"Oh? There's a story behind it?" Hanni smiled, seeing her friend's exaggerated expression.
"Yes, and you're still smiling!" Danielle leaned in eagerly. "Everyone says she's unusual. While other rich heirs studied business and took over family companies, she chose to serve in the military. Was she out of her mind?"
"Are you forgetting that the out-of-her-mind person is my wife?" Hanni raised her eyebrows.
"Sorry, I didn't mean it that way! But honestly, her story doesn't end there," Danielle continued. "Over two years ago, she retired due to an injury. No one knows exactly what happened, but her family spent a fortune on therapy. People started spreading rumors that she had psychological issues."
Hanni felt a little uneasy. Based on her interactions with Minji, her wife seemed fine, albeit a bit temperamental.
"At first, people didn't take the rumors seriously. But then they noticed she avoided social gatherings, and so the gossip grew."
