Hanni wore a white dress, her hair styled in a neat half-bun. She basked in the warmth of the sun as she held onto a simple suitcase, waiting for Minji's Jeep to arrive. Although she felt both nervous and apprehensive, there was a trace of excitement within her.
Minji pulled up in front of Hanni, taking a moment to admire her wife before removing her tinted sunglasses. With a playful smirk, she said, "As trendy as sunglasses are, I can't get a good look at my wife with them on. How do I look today?" She asked.
Hanni eyed her up and down before responding, "Passable."
Minji casually hooked her sunglasses onto the collar of her shirt and stepped out of the Jeep. Striding toward Hanni, she tucked away a loose strand of hair as she flirtatiously remarked, "Darling, that's the first time you've ever complimented me."
How was that a compliment? Minji leaned in so close that it made Hanni blush. "Let's... go. We have a plane to catch."
Minji laughed out loud and said, "Give me a kiss first." She cupped Hanni's face and kissed her wife gently.
The kiss didn't last long. Minji lingered for a couple of seconds before pulling away, sensing that something felt different. With a teasing smile, she remarked, "Darling, you've become more cooperative lately. You're not as distant as before."
Hanni huffed and pushed Minji away. "Let go of me."
Minji let out a hearty laugh as she grabbed Hanni's luggage and placed it in the back of her car. Opening the passenger door, she gestured, "Get in."
Minji had been the one to plan everything, and aside from informing Hanni that their flight was at 10 a.m., she hadn't shared many details.
Hanni glanced at the ticket. Japan, Starry Island. Pleasantly surprised, she commented, "I didn't expect we'd be going here."
"Do you like it?" Minji asked.
"It's a beautiful island. A popular vacation spot for couples."
Minji couldn't resist asking, "Have you been there before?"
"No, but I've seen photos. It looks amazing." Hanni had longed to go but had never had someone to accompany her.
"I'm glad you like it," Minji said with a grin. "Even if... what we like about it might not be the same." As she spoke, she subconsciously pressed down on the gas pedal, eager to reach their destination.
The flight from Seoul to Japan was about five hours. The first-class cabin was spacious and comfortable. After ordering a glass of beer, Minji turned to Hanni and asked, "Wanna take a nap?"
Hanni, who was flipping through a magazine, looked up. "I've only been awake for a few hours. I'm not tired yet."
Minji took a sip of her beer and casually remarked, "I'm just worried you won't have time to sleep tonight."
Hanni's grip tightened on the magazine. The time had come. She had been mentally preparing herself for this day for over a month.
Noticing Hanni freeze up, Minji scoffed. "What? Scared?"
"I'm..." Hanni felt like a mouse being toyed with by a cat. She had been told what was going to happen, but the cat, Minji, kept reminding her of it, over and over again.
"I'm going to sleep." Hanni didn't bother with Minji any longer, slipping on a sleep mask.
Minji found her wife's attempt to ignore her adorable, laughing for a good two minutes. She asked a flight attendant for a blanket, then gently reclined Hanni's seat.
Hanni, though pretending to be asleep, felt every small gesture Minji made for her and couldn't help but be touched. When Minji leaned in close, she quietly whispered, "Thank you."
