They were both dead.

And there was nothing he could do to comfort them in their last moments, he couldn't say goodbye to either of them.

No matter how many times he tried, he could never wake up.

He began to crawl towards them to reach out for their hands.

To hold them in some hope of hearing a pulse and that they had maybe just lost consciousness.

That there was still some life left in them.

"Don't."

He looked behind to see who it was to see Easton standing behind him, looking like he had returned to his normal state.

From behind him, he saw Elijah, and Lin had just rushed in to catch up to him.

Lin gasped as she cupped her face with both palms in surprise.

"Nath..," Elijah said, his eyes full of sadness as he looked into Nathaniel's eyes.

It was then Nathaniel realized that his face felt wet as his tears dropped into his palms.

He wiped his tears away, not wanting either of the three to see him crying.

"T-They may still have a pulse..," he started saying, making his way over to their bodies but didn't find himself moving as he kept on trembling.

"Nath.."

"It's alright, I think I was just hallucinating. They were just knocked unconscious-

"Nath, just listen..."

"J-Just help me get them up and we'll de-

"Nathaniel!," Easton began to shout at him, making him shut up and give up on trying to get up.

Easton sighed, sharing a look with both Lin and Elijah who were nodding at him.

"We all heard the body discovery announcement and Monokuma doesn't joke with this kind of thing. We're sorry," he spoke, his voice low and soft.

However, that didn't make things seem better for him for that meant......

"T-They...can't be..."

He began to let out a soft sob, burying his face inside the palm of his hands.

Lin began to rush over to his side along with Lin, wrapping their arms around him in hopes of comforting him.

"We're really sorry, Nath," Elijah whispered in his ear.

The discomfort he usually felt with physical touch didn't bother him as much for the grief he was now experiencing seemed to overpower that.

He looked at all of them, their eyes filled with looks of sympathy.

It was then he realized that this was something they all shared in common, that every one of them had lost one person or more in this killing game.

If anyone knew how he was feeling right now, it was them.

Even that fact alone didn't help ease how he was feeling.

After a few minutes, he managed to compose himself as he wiped his tears dry from his face.

"Can I at least....," he began to ask, staring at the cold bodies he had tried to avert his eyes away from.

"You know we can't touch it, it'll destroy the evidence..."

"I know-

"But if nobody comes in the next few minutes after we've finished investigating, then we'll carry them to the infirmary," Easton finished answering to both Lin and Elijah's surprise.
