Chapter 18: Shadows behind the trees

An hour had passed and Y/N had been spending this time just sitting on her new bed. In her new room.

Just as she was wondering where Jadis could be, she walked in.

"I apologize for my lateness, it took a little longer than i assumed it would." She says, stopping Infront of Y/N and looking down at her, a smile growing on her face.

Not the deceiving smile that she shone to Edmund so many times though but, one of genuine friendliness.

Jadis then slowly sits beside Y/N.

"I trust Darius settled you in well?" Jadis asks, looking at her.

"He did yes. He's very kind." Y/N responds, a small smile reaching her lips.

Jadis nods, her face not showing much emotion. A pretty normal trait of hers.

A small pause reaches the room before Y/N looks at Jadis.

"Am i princess of Narnia then?"

Jadis gives her a smile and gently brushes her hair out of her face.

"Yes. You are."

She then gives Jadis a smile, looking down as she thinks it all over.

"I must ask though...." Jadis says, making Y/N look up at her again.

"Are you having second thoughts? Or do you agree with my views and remain on my side?"

Y/N hesitates. She wasn't expecting a question like that.
She instantly thought of Edmund and Caspian.
Was she having doubts?

"Well?" Jadis says, breaking her thought process.

"No, I wanted to see you."

With a nod, Jadis looks to the small window carved from the icey walls of the castle.

"You must be tired from your journey and the moon will soon be up. You should rest."

She then stands, watching as Y/N gives her a nod and lies back onto the bed.

She didn't even realise how tired she truly was until Jadis said that.

Once she was comfortable, Jadis then walkes to the door, giving her a smile before she left the room, the door slowly creaking as it shut, leaving Y/N alone.

Once Jadis was gone she rolled onto her side, looking at the carved table that was at the opposite end of the room.

She was looking forward to her first day as Princess, she couldn't deny that.

As Jadis left Y/N's room, she walked down the corridor and down the many stairs to her throne room.
Reaching her throne room, she looked down at her throne, running her hand over the armrest.

Just as she was pondering on what she should do, a dwarf quickly enters the room.

"Your majesty!" He says, approaching as fast as he could.

Jadis looks over to him then, glances at Dhargrim, who had since sat up from his relaxed position.

He bounds over and growls at the dwarf.

"Stop dwarf! You dare approach her majesty in such a way!"

The dwarf looks at Dhargrim and then back up to Jadis, his face red from the running.

"But, I saw the sons of adam in the forest!"

This gets Jadis's attention.

She takes a few steps closer, gesturing her hand to Dhargrim to get him to stand down. He nods and moves next to her.
