An Unexpected Return (Edmund x Female Reader)

Chapter 1: The calm beyond the storm

The sun shines overhead above the park as the sounds of the breeze dances around the trees, almost making them dance. The hands on a wristwatch turn to 12 as it's wearer checks it, a small smile lingering on their face.

"It's 12pm, let's take a break shall we? I must admit all of this studying is making me tired..."

Edmund looks to Y/N, waiting for a response.

"That sounds like a good idea, let's do it..." Y/N says with a smile.

Edmund nods and shuts his book, placing it beside him as he leans his back against a tree, looking up at the sky.

There is a small silence, the both of them just enjoying the sounds of the nature around them.

Y/N then looks at Edmund. He had recently told her all about his adventures in the land he called Narnia. Obviously she thought it was nonsense. Edmund had always had a good imagination but something about the way he spoke of these adventures felt more than a made up story...

"What is it?" Edmund says, breaking Y/N's train of thought.

"Oh umm...nothing i was just thinking about all that stuff you told me about that place...Narnia, was it?"

A smile grows on Edmund's face when he hears Narnia leave her lips, fond memories always come flooding back.

"Yeah, what are you finally starting to believe me or something?" Edmund says with a small laugh.

Y/N shakes her head and laughs a little, saying "No, it sounds like utter nonsense still..."

Edmund's smile fades as he shrugs and says "One day you'll believe me, i hope...."

Then both of them notice some grey clouds moving over, the wind getting a little colder.

Edmund shivers, noticing droplets of rain hitting his book. He grabs it and turns to Y/N.

"Looks like it's raining, we should find some shelter until it clears..."

She looks around and sees a tunnel at the corner of the park.

"There! Let's go before we get soaked."

They both then run as the rain begins to get heavier.

"Goodness it's really pouring it down now, we got here just in time..." Edmund says, looking at the pouring rain outside, with no signs of it passing anytime soon.
They may be here longer than they thought.

Y/N shrugs and says "suppose we will just have to wait..."

Then she looks into the darkness of the tunnel, not being able to see anything just steps away from them.
"Where do you suppose this tunnel leads? I don't think I've seen it before..." Y/N asks, not moving her eyes from the darkness Infront of her.

"I'm not sure, maybe the other side of the road? It looks very long though....hmmm." Edmund says as he takes a few steps Infront of Y/N and into the dark a bit.
"Wait what are you doing?" She asks, grabbing the sleeve of Edmund's shirt.
He looks back to her and a small smile grows on his face as he says "Going to see where this tunnel leads, come on we don't really have anything better to do until this rain clears."

He tries to move further but she tugs on his sleeve, saying "wait...it's very dark, I'm not sure we should..."
He shrugs and says "what? Are you afraid of the dark?" A small laugh leaving his lips after saying that.
She lets go of his sleeve and shoves him a little, saying "shut up you...fine, let's go..."
He then nods and smiles, the both of them heading into the darkness, not knowing what could happen...

Hope you enjoyed this first chapter, it is very late o'clock so i should get some sleep but i shall continue to write the next chapters in due time, had a lot of fun writing already :)
