Well, hello there, everyone! I'm Ariel Axilas, and welcome back to yet another chapter of my second novel, "Lightspeed: Drug Detectives"! Last time.....well.....there isn't really much to go over about last time, to be honest. Other than the fact that it was a complete fucking slog, of course. It was really just.....my best friend Erica Shields, my on-and-off boss Marle Atkins, the Paragon Herman, and myself double-checking our belongings and ensuring that we had all the necessities we needed for a brief trip to the Dominican Republic to take down the Celestial Syndicate. And when I say "brief" trip, I mean a "brief" trip. All we really have to do is find out where the Syndicate's hubs and bases are located, and I'll tear them apart in seconds with my super speed. In other words.....we just need to know where the targets are before pulling the trigger, so we're not unintentionally fucking up the entire practice range.

What could possibly go wrong?

OH! OH! There is something I should probably tell you about! So, we ran into a bit of a snag during preparations, right? 'Cause Herman just HAD to bring up the fact that we need our passports just in case we run into trouble or try to book a hotel stay, since none of us are from the Dominican Republic. So.....guess what I did? Huh? Guess what I did? The group trusted me with their addresses—which touches my heart, by the way—and their house keys, in Erica and Herman's cases.....and I literally went to their pads, got their passports for them, and zipped back in about five seconds. Didn't break a single sweat. Oh, and I also got Marle's passport from the Mastermind Conspiracy Cambridge branch base below the hospital.

Damn, I'm good. A fucking natural, in fact.

Anyway, the chapter ended with all four of us checking one last time to ensure everything important was on us. Herman took his weapons and gear, Erica's taking her wallet, phone, and her "driver" kit—which is inside my car, actually—and Marle's taking a black purse with her wallet, her phone, and some walkie-talkies for long-range communication; she's also appointed one of her other Mastermind Agents to run the base in her absence. Then, once we decided we were ready, I blasted out of the Cambridge Hospital's parking lot in a flash of light, bringing everything that I was physically contacting.....with Herman's motorcycle and my entire car included. Yeah. All of you better be giving it all up for me right now, 'cause you're not gonna see any other hero doing this kind of shit.

This time, my friends have quite the experience during the very quick trip, before we all officially arrive in the Dominican Republic to begin our mission! I wonder if anyone's going to lose their lunch. Read on to see if they do! (Even though we haven't actually had lunch yet.....whatever.)

-Enroute to Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic-

I, Ariel Axilas—or.....I guess Lightspeed right now—am obviously no stranger to the sensation that comes over me whenever I use my super speed. I've put in hours upon hours upon hours of training, and by now, I've learned tricks such as meticulously adjusting my speed if I want to stay at the same pace as something or someone I'm chasing, knowing exactly how long I have to be "running" in order to reach my destination—both with my power activated and deactivated—and when to make the proper twists and turns.

Then again, it wasn't easy. Very few things are. And to be fair, even though I did hide my power away for quite some time, I was quick—though not as quick as my super speed—to get back to practicing the moment I learned to embrace my abilities. Now, I do think of myself as being remarkably skilled. As being worthy of this power that I've been given. As being a sharp and skilled hero.
