Did you guys catch the pun in the title? Did you? Did you? Haha! What can I say? The author loves to have a bit of a chuckle every now and again. Anyway, welcome back to another chapter of "Lightspeed: Drug Detectives", everybody! My name is Ariel Axilas, and I am your beloved protagonist and narrator for this adventure! Last chapter, my awesome team—which consists of myself, my best friend Erica Shields, my on-and-off boss Marle Atkins, and the Paragon Herman—regrouped after the El Gallego restaurant shooting and went to the crime lab to wait on the toxicology results following the testing of the gunman's body. And—wouldn't you know it—the dude has drugs in his system. Cannabis. Marijuana. The green leaf. The "good stuff".

Thank God.

To be honest, I wasn't really expecting that this was going to even go anywhere. Guy had fifty milligrams in his body. FIFTY FUCKING MILLIGRAMS. Can you believe that? But all of us thought that even just twenty would do more harm to the consumer than anyone else. The responder we talked to said she believed that the digested cannabis that the scientists had recovered had somehow been modified, and also revealed that she had gotten a rough idea of where the man got the cannabis from, providing my friends and I with a piece of paper containing an address leading to an apartment complex that's supposed to be abandoned.....but our gunman apparently spent money there on something in the days leading up to the restaurant shooting.

Thank God times two. Luck really does seem to be on my side recently.

Our time at the crime lab ended with me happily declaring to my team that we had our next lead, and that it was time to move out once again. Now, it's high time we see what our lone gunslinger fellow was up to before he decided to pop bullets into innocent restaurant staff.....

-Calle Diablo Droga 666, Santo Domingo 10100, Dominican Republic-

I, Lightspeed, have successfully brought myself, my best friend Erica Shields, my on-and-off boss Marle Atkins, and the Paragon Herman to the listed address written on the piece of paper that we retrieved from that first responder back at the crime lab: Calle Diablo Droga 666, Santo Domingo 10100, Dominican Republic. The trip here wasn't exactly brimming with conversation; it was mostly just the four of us ensuring that we all had our gear at the ready just in case we needed to do some fighting. Erica, Marle, and I are in my car once again, and Herman is riding alongside us in his motorcycle.....and now that we've had the opportunity to fill ourselves up with a good lunch—and got our blood pumping with the El Gallego restaurant shooting—I'd say we're more than ready to roll out now!

Sorry, random host and waiter. Hope you're both resting in peace. You did help us get back to peak condition, though! So kudos to you!

I've obviously got my super speed and my decent combat skills at my disposal; I'll be flashing the bad guys so.....okay, no, that's a terrible choice of words. I'll be blazing around the bad guys so quickly that their heads will be spinning before the end of my first lap.....just you watch! Or.....just you read, I guess!

Erica's going to mostly be staying in the car with her "driver" kit; she's only supposed to interfere if things get very desperate and I absolutely, certainly, undoubtedly, undisputedly need her assistance.

Marle does have the ability to call for backup from the Mastermind Conspiracy, but I would much rather prefer that she saves that for more large-scale battles.....like whenever we attack the Celestial Syndicate's seat of power in full force. But that won't be until much, much later. For now, though, she's revealed that she's also brought a silenced pistol with her, which I imagine would be very useful both for its effectiveness and its stealth capability. Girl can be like a Grand Theft Auto character with that kind of heat.
