So, uhhh.....last time, we took down a fucking cannabis lab, guys! Yeah! No joke! Dudes didn't stand a damn chance! .....Oh, yeah, I forgot to introduce myself and the novel. That's embarrassing. Anyway, my name is Ariel Axilas, and I'm your protagonist for this story, entitled "Lightspeed: Drug Detectives"! Last time.....well, I guess I already gave you an idea of what happened last time, right? My awesome posse and I—that's Lightspeed, who is me, my best friend Erica Shields, my on-and-off boss Marle Atkins, and the Paragon Herman—stormed a supposedly abandoned apartment complex after following a lead from the crime lab.....and found out that a band of drug junkies took up residence in it and turned it into their very own cannabis lab.

That lab's not in operation anymore, obviously.

Took out the guards outside, eliminated all the drug junkies except for one, and kept the last one kicking for just a little bit longer for questioning. Although.....it was really just me, Marle, and the Paragon Herman doing all of the work. Erica, in the meantime, just waited outside in the car, waiting for me to give her the text message which would serve as the signal.

The last junkie eventually informed me that one of the members of their crew met up with a representative of their "superiors"—whose payroll they're apparently on—after he let their existence slip and I pressed him on how I could meet them for a "chat". The location of this meeting was apparently Celeste's Clairvoyance Shop.....and don't worry. Between chapters, I had Erica check the store, and it does indeed exist. So, at the very least, he's not a fucking liar.

.....Or maybe he still could be. Only one way to find out.

Anyways, Erica fucking pulverizes the dude with my car once I give her the signal after I'm done getting all the information out of the junkie. What can I say? She's a shitty driver; we've already established this before.

This time, it's time to check out the Clairvoyance Shop. As a bit of a heads-up, we're likely going to be at this location for a bit. You have been warned!

-Enroute to Celeste's Clairvoyance Shop, Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic-

While we're on our way to Celeste's Clairvoyance Shop to see if what that junkie back at the stinky-as-hell apartment complex said was true, the Paragon Herman chooses to engage in a conversation with me, Lightspeed, about a certain aspect of recent events.

And for once, it's actually not a fucking sarcastic remark.

Yes, I know he was nice to me during the attack on the cannabis lab. That doesn't count. That was all action; we had to communicate nicely with each other, or we wouldn't survive.

He manages to keep the conversation flowing despite both being in a completely separate vehicle and needing to constantly keep the pace with me.....and for that, I guess I must commend him somewhat.

"Hey," he calls to me. "Shouldn't you have told the first responder at the restaurant and the crime lab everything about the Celestial Syndicate? Like, the names of their heads? You know them. Don't tell me the 'MVP of MIT' is slacking on the job right now."

Shit. I just had to tempt fate, didn't I?

"No, she's not," I answer back to him matter-of-factly. "I just happen to know that 85% of the entire world's police forces got fucking obliterated by the Cosmic Armada a while back. Don't tell me that the Paragon Herman has gone and forgotten about it right now."
