Well, hey there, everybody! It's your girl Ariel Axilas again, and welcome back to yet another chapter of my second novel, "Lightspeed: Drug Detectives"! Last time I was with you guys, the Paragon Herman and I officially entered the Solionite Mines alongside my best friend, Erica Shields! Ahhhh.....I remember when she was just the shitty driver of the group and not much more. Now, she's armed with not just a crowbar.....but with a fucking sledgehammer as well! Girl's ready to fuck shit up, and I couldn't be prouder to be around to see it!

Now, according to Herman, the Solionite Mines consist of three quadrants, three "heads"—one for each quadrant—and a lot of workers. Like, a HELL of a lot of workers. He initially tried grabbing several unlit dynamite sticks from an idling mine cart to prepare to blow up the entirety of the mines once he's done, but I—in all my shrewd nature—insisted that we at least hold one of the heads for questioning first; that way, we can find out if the Solionite Mines really are closely affiliated with the Celestial Syndicate.....and if there's a quick way to reach the Syndicate's base—the Celestial Compound—directly from the mines.

And then, if neither that "head" or his subordinates prove to be cooperative, THEN Herman can blow this entire fucking mine to kingdom come. How's THAT for a plan adjustment?

So Herman goes to start planting explosives all over the Solionite Mines while Erica and I start clearing out the workers. And I have to say.....even though Erica only took on three and I literally took on hundreds more, the fact that Erica was able to hold her own against those three—and even managed to indirectly kill two—is very impressive to me. As if I needed another reason to be absolute best friends with her. And here I thought she was the "good" to my "bad". Turns out she can be "bad" too when the situation calls for it. Anyways, we eventually ran into the first "head"'of the Solionite Mines, and he's called the Foreman. Here I was, thinking we were going to have some cool and epic fight sequence against him.....and then the author just writes it so that I grab both of the Foreman's arms, immobilize him, and give Erica an opening to drop kick his ass. The Foreman stumbles back and collapses against a loose solionite deposit.....which then falls on top of his head and fucking CRUSHES it into a pile of gunk.

So.....yeah. Foreman's dead. Guess his helmet didn't save him there. The chapter basically then ended with me bluntly stating to Erica that you can't just be a goody two-shoes 100% of the time and expect everything in the world to turn out okay; that you need to get your hands dirty sometimes in order to make shit work. Thankfully, she seems to be taking the hint, and both of us move on to the second quadrant together.

This time.....oh, boy. For those of you who love Star Wars, you're going to be getting quite the treat here.....

***********************************************************************************************

Once again, I'm your super speedy superheroine Lightspeed, and I've already seen my best friend, Erica Shields, kick major ass during the few times she actually finds herself behind the wheel of a car. As we've established multiple times already, she's a—say it with me—shitty driver, and believe me, I am fully intent on using that quirk of hers to my advantage.

But seeing her handle a whopping three miners at once with her new blunt instrument weapons? God, that gives me so much more confidence in her. Like, more confidence than you could ever fathom. Thankfully, the second quadrant of the Solionite Mines doesn't appear to have too many workers around it, and after Erica and I fight our way to the central pit like the power duo we are, I decide to take a little bit of a risk.

I see the second head at the bottom of the pit; apparently, according to Herman, he's called the General. Around him are more miners whom he's apparently barking orders at, and the winding stone path leading down into the center of the pit—where the General currently is—is laced with the occasional worker here and there, hauling carts upon carts upon carts of solionite.
