Hello, everyone! It's your girl Ariel Axilas, and welcome back to yet another chapter of my second novel, "Lightspeed: Drug Detectives"! Last time, after a rather fulfilling lunch and attack discussion at the Hard Rock Café, my best friend Erica Shields, the Paragon Herman, and myself race back to the Celestial Compound to carry out our attack on the base and swiftly bring an end to the cartel's hand in the drug trade for good. The original plan was to have Herman and Erica get me as close as possible to the base without us being detected, and then wait for the front gates to open up themselves. Then, I would've rushed into the base, made a beeline for the central building, run through it so quickly that I would've triggered a sonic boom, and then Herman and Erica would take advantage of the chaos to move in and apprehend the cartel's three heads: Angelo Acosta, his wife Daniela Acosta, and the top enforcer Xavier Costello.
I had a conversation with Erica about the author's existence and how even though he holds all of our lives in his hands, he doesn't wish for anything bad to happen to us. But before Erica had a chance to further voice her thoughts on the matter, all three of us arrive at a spot still a ways away from the Celestial Compound.....
.....only to realize that our initial plan has already gone to shit.
The Celestial Compound's already being attacked by some other faction, and whoever they are, they seem to have already done a decent amount of damage to the base already. The front gates are exploded off their hinges, all four defense turrets have been blown up—and the guards inside them have been killed—the buildings are all on fire, and ATVs, SUVs, and attack helicopters belonging to this mysterious other faction are rapidly moving all around the place.....with the helicopters in particular bombarding the campus space with missiles.
In short, they're fucking up the compound worse than we ever could have by ourselves.
Though Erica is the first to try and piece the puzzle together, it's Herman who ultimately realizes that this is likely the work of the Mastermind Conspiracy, and that its leader, Marle Atkins, may be involved after we initially believed her to have gone missing partway through our investigation.
We're all confused, but we intend to take advantage of the chaos that she's initiated. The chapter ended with all of us charging into the already-besieged Celestial Compound, ready to engage the Celestial Syndicate's forces with everything we've got.
This time.....it's the beginning of the end. Keep it here.

-Celestial Compound, Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic-
I, Lightspeed, bring my car into the Celestial Compound's campus, pulling the car past the exploded front gates before braking and putting the vehicle into "Park". I then unbuckle my seatbelt and get out of my car, leaving my best friend Erica Shields to hijack it with her "driver" kit and go to town on the Celestial Syndicate's goons with her shitty driving skills. It's a miracle we aren't shot at immediately; I guess the Mastermind Conspiracy is doing a good job at keeping the Syndicate occupied.
"You got this, right?" I ask her, giving her a pre-emptive thumbs-up. "Don't hit any of us."
"Of course. I'm hoping this 'author' of yours comes through for me," Erica answers wholeheartedly. "And if not.....then oh, well."
The Paragon Herman then pulls up on his motorcycle, with his heat signature-detecting visor, bulletproof vest, and M1 Carbine all at the ready. "Let's clear the immediate area first! Once the hostiles are down, we'll focus on getting Lightspeed into position!"
