Yoongi never had the chance to attend school as they had to move frequently. They couldn't stay at a place longer than a month as it risked them getting caught by the police. So, Wonil arranged a tutor for Yoongi that would homeschool him. But Wonil wasn't much fond of education, to him education didn't matter as much as physical strength did.
So, Yoongi was trained more in martial arts and his combat skills than education. He was made to follow a strict schedule that had him take numerous fight lessons and shooting lessons a day. No matter how tired he was Yoongi wasn't able to take a break, if he dared to do so his father would lock him up in the basement without any food or water for a few hours as punishment.
After Eunji's departure Wonil's behavior had completely changed towards Yoongi. He didn't show even an ounce of love or care towards him. He treated Yoongi worse than he treated his other men. It was like he had developed a hatred for his own son all of a sudden. And the reason behind it was that Yoongi had started to resemble his mother more and more.
And whenever Wonil would look at that face he'd be reminded of the betrayal he had to go through. So, he'd purposely give Yoongi rough punishments, so Yoongi would never dare to do the same thing as his mother.
One such extreme punishment happened when Yoongi was just stepping into his adolescent years, he was barely a teenager at that time. There were so many changes going on his body and on top of that he had to go through several hours of training without rest.
His father was not happy with his performance so he had told him he won't get any food or water unless he gets better at fighting. Yoongi somehow managed to go through a whole day without eating or drinking anything. But it finally started to take a toll on him during his practice session the next day.
He was so tired that he stopped in the middle of the practice, putting his knife down. Wonil, who was watching him from the side, screamed at him to pick up his weapon and continue but Yoongi didn't listen to him. All he could hear was the loud booming sound of his own heartbeat.
His father called for him again but Yoongi was in a daze. He was feeling the world around him spin as the scorching heat added more to his misery.
Yoongi's disobedience enraged him so much that Wonil took the knife from the instructor and challenged Yoongi to a fight even in that state.
Yoongi tried to tell his father how he was not feeling well and was getting dizzy, but it didn't work on his father. Wonil without giving Yoongi a chance to brace himself started brutally attacking him.
Yoongi tried to defend him, because he didn't have the heart to attack his own father. But Wonil didn't think the same. For him Yoongi wasn't his son right now, but someone who disrespected his orders. And there was only one punishment for such people in his book.
Just as he let those thoughts enrage him, Wonil's knife struck Yoongi right through his eye. In a flash of a second Yoongi felt something blurr his vision and when he put his finger up to touch it, he found his hand covered in his own warm blood.
Soon, there were people rushing to his side. But Yoongi only looked at his father with a helpless look, who gave him a smirk. It was like his father was proud and not even guilty of actions.
If Yoongi was afraid of his father before, then he was scared to death of him now. This incident was enough to let Yoongi know that his father won't hesitate to harm him.
And whenever he'd look at his reflection in the mirror and see that gruesome scar on his eye, he'd be reminded of this fact over and over again. It'd remind him how his father held his strings in his hands and he's the one controlling his life.
