We had arrived at our new destination, and the warmth of the desert was now a distant memory. Here, the bitter cold was nearly unbearable, cutting through our clothes as if we wore nothing at all. We found ourselves encased in a massive cage of ice. Just beyond the frozen wall in front of us lay the portal, almost teasing us, waiting for us to pass through. But the thick, unforgiving ice wall stood in our way, blocking any path forward. Unlike the other worlds, there was no guide to meet us here just a lone sign lodged in the snow with a simple message: "The only way out is to melt the ice."
"This is bullshit!" Frye shouted in frustration, her voice echoing off the frozen walls. "This place sucks..."
"Frye, try to calm down," Althea replied, trying to soothe her with a gentle hand on her shoulder.
"Yeah, there's probably a way to get out of here without too much trouble," I added, trying to sound confident, though in reality, I had no idea what to do.
Unsure of our next move, we all sat down on the icy ground, feeling the cold seep into our bones. Frye eventually calmed herself and rummaged through her backpack, pulling out a blanket and draping it over us.
"You never know what you'll need," she said, forcing a smile.
"Thanks," we said in unison, grateful for any relief from the cold.
We waited there, huddled in a circle, eyes scanning the ice for any hint of a solution. Having just come from a period of rest, sleep wasn't an option, so we simply sat in silence, our breaths fogging the air as we pondered our escape from this frozen prison. The stillness of the icy cage loomed around us, pressing us to find the answer before the chill claimed us.
