Emilia's POV

Tonight was my first date night with Josh since Abuelita was in the hospital. We were going to the museum and then a fancy dinner that Josh picked out.

I decided to wear a crème, fluffy knit dress that was off the shoulder. I paired it with a crème baker boy hat, tan heeled boots, and gold accessories.

Josh texts that he's down in the lobby

Josh texts that he's down in the lobby. I grab my purse before making my way down.

"Hey babe, you look beautiful." Josh says greeting me with a hug and then a kiss.

"Hi baby. We're matching!" I exclaim happily seeing his outfit.

"Yeah when you sent me a picture last night I decide to surprise you." He explains.

Though his outfit was a lot simpler, he wore brown slacks and a crème knit sweater. Paired with brown loafers and a watch.

Josh places his hand on my lower back and guides me to his car

Josh places his hand on my lower back and guides me to his car. He finally got his license! Which is probably the best thing to happen to our relationship to date.

I insisted on paying for our museum tickets since Josh would be paying for dinner. There was a mix of history and art exhibits. We went around by ourselves taking time to look at things. Talking about the different pieces and our interpretation of what the artist was going for. For the first time in a while it felt like we both genuinely enjoyed each others company.

After a few hours at the museum we ride off to the restaurant. It was a nice place with low lighting, a small menu, and medium high prices. I decided to get lamb chops while Josh got Salmon. Of course we did what all couples do and shared food, trying each others dish.

This time we talked more about life. Work, school, family. I even try opening up like I promised. Telling him a bit about growing up with arguing and divorced parents.

"I haven't seen or talked to papi since a couple months ago when Alex was sneaking around. I've been thinking about texting him since Abuelita's hospitalization. I just realized tomorrows not promised and I don't want him to think I hate him forever." I explain to Josh.

"Yeah I understand that. But don't feel like you have to force yourself. Give yourself time to process what you feel." He says rubbing his hand over mine. After that we order dessert to lighten the mood. One brownie a la mode to share.

When we go to exit the restaurant it's raining. Josh runs off to pull the car around since I didn't have an umbrella. I go to text mom I'm on my way home while I wait.

"I'm sorry, I just have to let you know how absolutely beautiful you look." I hear from beside me. I look to my left to see an average looking guy about my age.

"Me? Thank you." I say politely smiling. I go back to texting mom.

"I'm Malcolm, and you are?" He asked next.

"Emmy." I say bluntly not wanting to give him my full name.

"Well Emmy, I see you're busy, but maybe we could text sometime? Over instagram or snap." He asked taking a step closer.

"I don't have social media." I once again state flatly.

"Oh! That's fine, how ab-" he starts to say something else but is cut off by Josh pulling up and exiting the car.

"Okay babe! let's get you home before your mom sends the search party." Josh says opening the door for me. Finally the random guy takes a step back from me.

"Sup dude! You guys make a nice couple." The guy says giving a head nod to Josh as my boyfriend leads me into the car.

"Thanks man." Josh says and closes my door for me. Josh makes his way around and gets into the car.

"Is it just me or was that guy a bit weird?" Josh asked once we get on the road.

"Def a weirdo. I kept brushing him off, but he didn't stop until you pulled up." I say rolling my eyes.

"Ugh. Pushy guys like him and Aaron give the rest of us a bad rep." Josh says rolling his own eye.

"Yeah, but lucky for me you're nothing like that." I say brightening the mood again. Josh smiles at me and places his hand on my thigh. I place my hand over his and we sit like that for the rest of the ride. Quietly enjoying each other presence to the soft music of the radio.

This was the best date night ever.
