Hey, Connor. Can we talk? I have something to tell you.
I sent Connor a text once I was able to finish my shift. I am waiting outside the hospital for my dad who still has to fix a few paper work for my internship in LA. He was very happy, even happier than I am because I finally get to follow his footsteps. Don't get me wrong, I am very excited as well but I can't help but feel guilty. I really want to see Connor and the rest of the guys again.
After a few minutes, I received a text from him.
Yeah sure. We just finished band rehearsals. Do you want to talk now? I can call. Or actually, I have an idea. I don't want to just talk. I want to see you as well. Do you want to FaceTime? Or is it too much of me to ask? :(
I smiled as I look up and saw my dad a few steps away from me. He motioned me to walk towards the parking lot so I just followed him. "Got it all fixed. You'll be leaving on May 29 so you can get settled in your apartment and fix some stuff with the hospital as well. Or just familiarize yourself around the city." He said, reaching in his pocket to grab his car keys.
I gave him a weak smile before we both enter his car. "You're not having second thoughts, are you?" He asked, looking at me.
"I'm not, dad. It's just, I don't know how I would be able to adjust in a new city. California is very different from Arizona." I said.
I saw my dad smile before we drove off. "I know. But that's part of life right? You'll get to experience new things, meet new people." He said, gazing towards me and then at the road.
I remembered I haven't replied to Connor's text yet so I grabbed my phone from my pocket and typed immediately, not wanting him to feel like I don't want to respond to him.
Haha no. It's not too much to ask. Besides, we kind of miss each other right? FaceTime's great. I'll be home in a bit. I'll just call when I'm ready :)
"This is a great deal for you, Alex. It's a huge deal. I'm sure there will be a lot of offers for you in the future but this internship, it offers a great platform for you to learn and discover new things." He said, looking at me before shutting down the engine. I unbuckled my seat belt and looked at him as well. He sighed before continuing. "You know, there are a lot of great things about the medical field. You'll get to-" I cut my dad off. I know he only want what's best for me so he's telling me all these things about the industry, but honestly, I'm just not in the mood to talk about it. Sometimes I get too pressured that I shut off or even just explode. I've been surrounded by medical stuff the whole day, I don't want to be surrounded by it anymore when I'm at home.
"Yeah, I get it dad. Thank you." I said, smiling at him before going out of the car.
I went to my room immediately and placed all my things down. I sat on my bed and decided to call Connor already. I need a break from all these medical stuff.
He didn't answer my FaceTime call so I just placed down my phone and decided to rest for a bit. Maybe he's busy doing something.
After a few minutes, my phone rang. Incoming FaceTime call from Connor McDonough.
I sat up, fixed my hair and took a deep breath before pressing accept.
"Hey!" He immediately greeted once he saw me.
Is it wrong to miss him so much? I mean, we're basically just friends.
I smiled and waved with my left hand. "Hey Connor!"
He stood up and moved his phone to his left, revealing his brothers together with Braiden and Thomas who are fixing some equipments in the background. I haven't met Braiden and Thomas personally yet but Connor told me so much about them saying that they're all best friends and they've been together since the band started.
