*Zoe's P.O.V.*
(15 years old)

"Zoe!"
"Yeah, mum?" I yell back.
"Come and help me do up Charlie's room for her. She's only 10, but you two are only 5 years apart and you know the kind of stuff she would like." She replies.
"Be up in a second!" I yell from where I'm sat in the kitchen.

I put my sandwich in the bin, since I can't eat anymore, and leave my mobile phone on the table so I can clean up my plate. I leave it on the dish rack and run up to Charlie's room.

I walk in and my mum has the bed stripped of all bed sheets.
"Why is she even coming?" I ask. "And for how long?"
Mum sighs.
"Your father's brother, had something click in his brain. I don't know what it was. But it drove him to kill Aunt Marcie. He should be in jail the rest of his life. So Charlie's been sent over here, and she needs to live in our care until she's old enough to live on her own."

"Why would Doug do that?" I ask.
"As I said, something changed in him. He could've been on drugs. But we really need to make Charlie feel at home here. She's had a rough time. Her mum was killed on her 10th birthday party, while all of her friends were there. She was very brave. You'll need to treat her like a little sister, make her feel welcome."
"Of course I will. It'll be good to have a little sister figure around. I can help her with fashion and do her hair and everything!" I clap, excitedly.

Mum just laughs.

"She's not a toy, Zo."

"No, mum I know," I giggle. "You know what I mean."
"So, we're painting the room before Charlie gets back. Your father's gone to pick her up but they're staying in a hotel in Sydney for 3 nights, apparently something about bookings and not being able to get back very quickly." Mum says.
"Ah, I was wondering where dad got off to so early. I only heard the door shut and that's it." I let out. "So what colour will her room be?" I ask.
"That's partly what I asked you up here for. I have 4 pots of paint. We have a deep purple, white, pastel pink, and a pale blue." Mum informs me.
"I have an idea," I start, "Deep purple and white. Have one or two walls on a corner as purple and white for the rest." I say.
"We can do the side wall, and the wall that the built in 'robe is on, purple.
Then the rest can be white." Mum nods. "Joe?" She calls out.
