Chapter 32

"Kayla," I whispered, shaking her. "Kayla, wake up."
"Ugh. Go away."
I sighed. "No. What do you want on your toast?"
"Vegemite." She groans.
"Okay well get dressed. We're going ice skating today, remember?"
"Oh yeah, I haven't been in ages." Kayla said.
"Neither. The last time I went was when I was about 11 with Zoe and Joe when we were kids."
"I hope I'm still good. I used to be really good at it." She said, slowly getting up from her bed.
"I remember you telling me that. Anyway, I'll go get you some toast and bring it back up." I tell her.
"Thanks."

I walk down the stairs and see Caspar and Zoe talking about something, it doesn't really concern me so I don't bother asking.
Zoe pauses the conversation with Casp and looks at me expectantly.
"Vegemite." I say.
As she's spreading vegemite on the toast, I make Kayla a hot chocolate. I get out the chocolate powder and sugar, put spoons of those in, and boil the kettle.

I hear the click of the kettle eventually and I pour the water in to the cup and stir it all. I pour in some milk and the grab the plate and the mug and go upstairs.
I knock on the door with my wrist since I have the cup and plate and I hear Kayla say something.
"Come in."
I try to twist the door handle but I can't manage to grip the handle because my hands are already full. I guess Kayla heard me struggling because the next thing I know, the door is open and she's staring at me, giggling.
"Oh ha-ha. Here's your brekkie." I say, passing it to her.
"Aw thanks." She replies, smiling.
"That's okay. So do you like my outfit?" I ask, showing it off.
"Yeah, you look great!" She says.
"Thanks," I reply, "what are you wearing?"
"I was thinking, this..." She says, pointing out a beige coloured 3/4 sleeve shirt and a grey infinity scarf with dark denim jeans. She gets out a black coat and shows me. "And this." She adds.
"Looks good. So you get dressed and ready and I'll go downstairs."

When I go downstairs, Caspar is with Joe. Zoe's gone.
"So Zoe turned into Joe did she?" I laugh.
"She's getting changed." Joe says, turning around.
"Okay, well what have you been up to all morning?" I ask Joe.
"Editing videos, thinking about what my next video should be. Stuff like that." He answers.
"Oh okay, sounds fun." I say, half sarcastically.
"Where's Kayla? Is she up yet?" Joe asks.
"Yeah. But she's getting ready so you might not want to go up there in case she's not dressed or something." I laugh.
"He would love to walk in on her changing." Caspar smirks and we both laugh.
"Oi!" Joe exclaims, going red.
"Aw I'm sorry Joe." I apologize, continuing to laugh.
"Yeah, its alright dude." Caspar says, patting him on the shoulder.
"Mmm." Joe mumbles, rubbing his hand up his arm uneasily.

"What has my baby brother getting all nervous?" I hear from behind me.
I turn to see Zoe, dressed in some pink patterned tights and a baggy grey jumper. She also wore some pink ugg boots and a pink flowy scarf around her neck.
"Could you guys keep it down? I don't want Kayla to hear." Joe says slowly.
"Don't want me to hear what?" Kayla says.
I see her and she's wearing what she picked out and holding the jacket in her arms. She added a dark red beanie, she left her hair in its natural waves and it all looks perfect together!
"Nothing..." Joe says sadly and storms into his room.
I give Caspar a desperate look and he goes after Joe.
Zoe, Kayla and I are just left in silence. "Um. What was that all about?" Kayla asks, looking to Zoe and I for an explanation.
"Couldn't tell you to be honest." Zoe says.
I look at Kayla.
"Neither." I let out, even though I knew all too well what it was about.

"Morning all!" I hear a happy voice call out.
"Hey Alfie." I say.
He smiles at me and continues to walk to the kitchen where Zoe is standing. Kayla walks down the stairs and sits on the couch.

"Good morning, beautiful." Alfie chirps as he kisses Zoe on the cheek.
They then both look at me in a funny way.
I come to my senses and realise how goofy I must look, gawking at how cute they are.

"Need something?" Zoe laughs.
Alfie starts to laugh too.
I smile awkwardly and walk over to the couch and sit next to Kayla.

"So. How's life?" I ask.
"Fine. You?"
"Pretty good."
"That's good."
"Typical Facebook convo in real life." I laugh, rolling my eyes.
She laughs and goes on her phone.
"So what's the hap?" I say, laughing and glancing at her phone.
"Not much. I'm not that popular on social media so I don't get that many notifications from anything." She answers blankly.
I decide to get my phone out.
"How many followers do you have on Tumblr, Twitter and Instagram?" I ask.
"189 on Tumblr, 240 on Twitter and 1294 on Instagram." Kayla says.
"Impressive," I say. "I've got 3594 on Tumblr, 7853 on Twitter and 7302 on Instagram." I brag.
"You're a Sugg. Of course you have heaps." She says.
"I guess so." I laugh.

Kayla quickly turns around to see if anyone is listening.
"I really like Joe." She whispers, turning back around to face me.
"You met him like yesterday." I giggle.
"But I'm 100%, I like him. I'm sure." She replies.
"What are you going to do?" I whisper.
"I have no idea. That's what you're for." Kayla whispers.
"Ah shit.... Wait.. I've got it." I say.
"What?!" She asks desperately.
"You can wait and see." I say.
I get up and walk to Joe's room.
Caspar is in there comforting him.
"So a few days ago, this was the other way round. I love you two." I say, shutting the door behind me so nobody else hears.
"Joe. She just told me that she likes you. You guys need to get closer so you can date. I have a plan. While we're out, it'll give me more time to think." I say.
Joe looks up at me slowly. "Really? She really does?"
"Really really." I answer.
"See, that's great Joe!" Caspar says reassuringly.
"Yeah. It is." Joe says with no emotion.
"Come onnnn!" I whinge. "Its so good!"
"Its heaps good," Joe agrees. "But I'm not in the mood right now."
"Okay. Well we're leaving in a bit. You and the boys can do whatever you want." I say.
"Okay." Joe replies bluntly.
I get up and leave the room. I see Zoe and Kayla standing up.
"Ready?" I ask.
"Sure are." Zoe says happily.
"We should get going then." I say.
I walk back in to Joe's room and kiss him on the cheek.
"Bye Joe. Caspar and Alfie will take care of you." I rub his back soothingly and loom to Caspar.
"Bye Casp." I say. I kiss him and we hug.
I go to walk out of the room and Zoe's walking in as I'm going out.
I leave them to talk while I say good bye to Alfie and then get in the car with Kayla.
We wait for Zoe to come out and then we drive to the Ice Skating place.
