Zoe and I finished our food and drinks and she wallked to the car while I paid.
I walked out of the cafe and got in the driver seat of my car.
"We can go back to the hospital now if you want." I suggested.
"Yeah, can we do that? Also could you stop off at our place so we can get Caspar's phone and both their chargers so they can text us?" Zoe asked.
"Good idea." I agreed. I drove along the almost empty roads. There was hardly anyone on the roads! I couldn't figure out why. There was nothing on today, usually there would be people out and about doing things. I was very confused but I didn't really think much of it.
My thoughts were interrupted by a blaring red light and beeping noises. I jolted forward quickly.
Wow. I almost caused a collision at the intersection by running a red light.
"Charlie what the hell was that? You almost crashed the bloody car! Keep your eyes open. I need to know I'm safe if I ride in your car!" Zoe exclaimed.
I looked over and she was frowning at me.
"Sorry." I mumbled quietly.
I made sure I was alert the rest of the trip to our place.
I stopped the car outside. Zoe ran in with her bag and I called her so I could help her get everything without getting out of the car.
"No its on the table." I said.
"What table? There are like 20 of them in this house Charlie!" Zoe said loudly into the phone.
It was a bit muffled but I could still understand her.
"The coffee table in front of the T.V. has Caspar's phone." I explained.
"Oh yep, I've got it." Zoe told me. "Joe's?" She asked.
"Should be on the kitchen bench. That's where I last saw it." I replied.
"Okay, found them both. I'll just take a random charger and put them all in." She answered.
She hung up and I saw her come outside, struggling with her phone, the boys' phones and the charger cord.
"Oh shit, earphones." I heard her mumble under her breath. She turned on her heel and walked back inside.
Moments later she returned to the car, seeming a bit more organised this time.
She slumped into the car and pulled her bag onto her lap.
She took out the cords and wrapped them all up neatly so they wouldn't tangle again.
I had the car running already so I drove off as soon as she got in the car.
I wove through the streets and the car ride was really silent. The roads were still practically empty. What was going on today?
"Who is that?" Zoe asked, pointing out the window to a familiar looking girl. She had kind of auburn coloured wavy hair.
"I don't know. She looks very familiar." I replied as we got closer to the hospital.
"I can't think of where I know her from." Zoe said.
"Mm." I mumbled in agreement, as I was concentrating on parking the car.
I heard a scratching noise. I looked at the rear view mirror on Zoe's side and I was scraping the curb with the tyre. "Do you want me to get out and direct you?" Zoe offered.
"No, no I can straighten it up. Just a minute." I answered.
I parked the car properly and we both got out, Zoe carrying the boys' stuff.
I walked in the door to the hospital and saw the receptionist again and smiled. I motioned to the hall where Joe and Caspar's room was to say we wanted to go there again and she smiled in understanding.
I walked off in that direction and Zoe followed.
I knocked quietly on the door and opened it. The boys both stared in our direction.
*Caspar's P.O.V.*
Zoe and Charlie arrived about 20 minutes after I tried to ask Joe what the big problem is.
I looked at Charlie and beckoned her over. She looked a bit confused. I mouthed 'come here'.
A look of understanding washed over her face and she walked over to me.
"So what's going on?" I asked.
"Oh. No luck with Joe?" She asked in reply.
"Nope. Not a peep." I said.
"Well apparently there's a chance he might never walk again because of this injury. We need to get the fans to raise enough money for him and if he doesn't need the new leg then we can put it towards charity." Charlie explained.
"How much do you need to raise?" I asked slowly - worrying how expensive a fake leg might be.
Charlie hesitated.
"Only... $75,000...." She said.
$75,000???
That's heaps!
"How will fans raise that much money?" I asked, still feeling shocked.
"They'll find a way. They always do." Charlie said.
"Oh, I almost forgot. Wait here." She said.
"I can't move Charlie, I won't be going anywhere." I said with a small laugh.
She rushed over to Zoe and took a few things off her.
She walked back and presented me with my iPhone, charger and my earphones.
"Lifesaver." I said. Having my phone just felt like a breath of fresh air. Now it wouldn't be as urgent to have Charlie in here every time I had something to say.
She kissed me and then Zoe called her over.
*Charlie's P.O.V.*
"Hey Charlie. Come here would you?" Zoe called.
"Back in a minute." I told Caspar, rubbing his hand softly with my thumb before I left to see what Zoe needed.
"Can we go now? I'm getting a headache. I've given Joe his phone so they can both text us." Zoe said.
"Yeah sure we can go. Here, go get in the car." I said giving her my car keys.
She took them and walked off. I guess she already said bye to Joe. She didn't say anything to Caspar though, that's weird. Maybe its because she has a headache.
I walked over to Casp and said a small goodbye and kissed him. I then walked over to Joe.
"Hey. You know you can trust us. You know we would do anything for you. Never forget it. I love you Joe. Good luck. " I said softly and kissed his cheek and walked out of the room.
I don't know about this Chapter. :') eh. Its really short... Sorry about that.
