*Charlie's P.O.V.*

I can just hear Caspar's soft snores around me as his body is wrapped around mine.
I can feel his breath on my neck as he inhales and exhales in the calmness of his sleep.
I gently stretch out to grab my phone and check the time; only 4:35?!
I half force myself to go back to sleep until a reasonable time.
My eyes slowly shut, the world encasing me in darkness.

"Dad! No!" I scream, putting my hand out in a useless attempt to stop him.
He was on top of my mum, punching her continuously in the head and body.
"Shut the fuck up!" He screams, still focused on my mother's helpless body underneath him.
I quietly grab the phone and call the police. I walk upstairs, feeling sorry for leaving my mum down there, but I can't risk him finding out that I have the phone.
As soon as I hear a woman's voice, I speak desperately into the phone.
"I need the police. Quickly. Mum's gonna die if you don't hurry up." I say, as the tears start streaming down my face.
"Hello this is the police, what's the problem?" I hear a male voice say.
"I live at 54 Fern Road, Concord. Come quick. My father is bashing my mum. Quickly please." I cry.
"We'll be over as soon as we can, sweetie. Please try and stay calm and safe." He says into the phone. I don't hang up because I feel insecure if I do. They can track the call if need be as well.
I hear heavy footsteps up the stairs and slide the phone under my bed to hide it. He's getting closer. I run to the bathroom and lock the door behind me.
"Get the fuck out here Charlie! What have you done?!" I hear him yell, followed by numerous blows to the door. Hopefully it can hold, at least until the police arrive.
As if someone heard my calling, I hear sirens, and they sound close.
"Ah fuck, Charlie you stupid little bitch! You fuck up this family. If you didn't go and call them, this would be a happy family!" He screams. I hear the front door burst open and a number of footsteps.
"Come out with your hands where I can see them!" I hear a man say.
"Ugh fuck." I hear my father say under his breath.
"Come on sir, we know you're up here." I see the shadow of his feet disappear from under the door where I could see them, as he walks into the policeman's view.
"Where's the girl?" The man asks.
"Fucked if I know!" My father yells angrily.
"You damn well do know! Tell us where she is." The officer demands.
"I'm in here." I say, loudly.
"Move up, boys." The police officer orders his men.
I unlock the door and slowly open it.
A woman sees me and she has a bunch of other police behind her. She engulfs me in a hug and my tears come out more.
"You okay sweetie? You did well." She says.
"I feel sick. I'm scared of him." I whisper, "Please take him away forever."
"Honey, I'll try and make that happen but I'm not one hundred percent sure what I can do. I'll try my best." She says sweetly.
I look up and see heaps of guns trained on my father.
"You're coming with us, you aren't trusted with children - or anyone for that matter." One of the policeman says, as their partner secures my fathers wrists behind his back.
