(Y/N) entered the Squad 4 barracks in a rush. Surprisingly, the first person he came face to face with was Unohana herself.

(Y/N): I hope I'm not too late...

Unohana: No, but I was quite concerned. I've never taken you to be the type to be late, (Y/N).

(Y/N): Something... important came up at the last minute.

Unohana: Is that so? Well, that's quite alright.

(Y/N): So um... if I may ask, was there an update on the request?

Unohana: About training? Well...

(Flashback)

Unohana stood in front of Central 46. The group was currently in an uproar.

Central Member #1: You can't possibly be serious, Captain Unohana!

Unohana: I'm most certainly am.

Central Member #2: That Substitute Shinigami was capable of not only holding back Aizen but was capable of taking down Kenpachi Azashiro. Any more strength and he can be a possible threat to us!

Central Member #3: If that boy decides to switch sides now, we won't be fighting just him, but the entirety of Hueco Mundo too!

Unohana: There's no reason to fear (Y/N) (L/N). He's made his goals quite clear to everyone. He considers everyone here in Soul Society as a friend worth protecting. Would you not want someone like that on your side?

Central Member #1: Don't play that card with us, Unohana! You simply have a soft spot for the boy. We didn't forget that you and your Squad was the first one to assist that boy and Kisuke Urahara in their little experiment to give Ichigo Kurosaki his Shinigami abilities back. What's the real reason for your insistence on training the boy?

Unohana: I do hope you all know that this level of distrust is the reason why Ginjo Kugo made his defect from the Soul Society. However, if you really want to know, it's because I trust him. It's as simple as that. Though I wouldn't mind having a second lieutenant alongside Isane.

Central Member #4: Nothing but charity work. You're a captain, Unohana. You have responsibilities and taking care of this boy isn't one of them. He's already been trained by multiple Captain Level Shinigamis in Kisuke Urahara, Tessai Tsukiabishi, and Yoruichi Shihoin.

One of the judges finally spoke.

Judge: If that's all you came here to ask then, I will now give an answer. Retsu Unohana, your request to train the Substitute Shinigami, (Y/N) (L/N), has been rejected.

Unohana wasn't surprised in the least.

Unohana: I see. It's unfortunate but an outcome I saw coming from a mile away. I'll take my leave then.

Unohana turned around to leave. However, before exiting, Unohana spoke one last time.

Unohana: I do hope you remember the name of the "boy" you're all so scared of. Afterall, he may be the one saving your lives in the future.

(Flashback End)

(Y/N): A shame, but I guess I should've seen this coming.

Unohana: Are you giving up already?

(Y/N): Huh? But I wouldn't want you to get in trouble for disobeying orders.

Unohana: That's only if they find out. If I can't train you here in Soul Society, then I'll simply train you somewhere else.

(Y/N): But wouldn't you still need permission for that? It seems I'm the problem in this situation.

Unohana: But this wouldn't be the first time you've hidden something from Central 46, wouldn't it?
