I stared so long and hard, I didn't even know what I was doing at this point. Ahead of me, this tall, charming, handsome man was buying me ice cream, and why the heck did that sound so romantic?
I'm becoming delulu, oh god.
The both of us were out like we had planned, all dressed casually. But to me, Heeseung's outfit was way beyond casual. It was giving 'adorable Bambi' vibes. White turtleneck under light brown coat, his neck tucked in between the small space to stay warm. Weather's been dropping slowly, but nothing could keep me cold whenever he was around.
Black tousled hair lingered around his eyes as they scanned the area to find something. The moment his gaze landed on me, a huge grin appeared on his face.
I was praying he didn't see the small blush coming onto my cheeks, and thanked his quietly while taking my ice cream from him.
"Why are you so quiet? Come on, talk!" He nudged my ribs, causing my tongue to move up the ice cream a little too fast and eventually, some got on my upper lips and nose.
I glared at him while he chuckled. "Ugh, you're annoying." I took some tissues from my bag and started wiping the spots that got cream on it.
Once I thought I was done, I threw my tissue in the bin, and was about to continue eating when Heeseung stopped my hand by the wrist. "Hold on, you still have a bit left..."
My cheeks blaze when his thumb swiped the tip of my lips, cleaning away the excess ice cream and using another tissue to wipe that off. "O-oh, thanks."
"No problem! So, what's been up with life?" He asked, plopping himself down on the bench. I slowly descended beside him, taking a bite of my cone.
"Um..nothing much. Finals coming...just studying yeah," I replied, trying to meet his eyes.
Heeseung nodded. "Ah..what about after that though? Thinking of going anywhere for the holidays?"
The question pierced my heart as my eyes immediately flickered away. "Not yet..still planning where to go."
He finished up his cone while staring into the distance. "It's not by default? Like you don't go back to Australia to visit your family or anything?"
This time, I didn't answer, knowing I'll probably give it away. I bit my lip to try and stop reacting, closing my eyes and inhaling a deep breath. Family...yeah. What an interesting subject.
Heeseung must've caught on because he immediately started correcting himself. "Oh, I'm so sorry! Did that affect you? Shit, I didn't mean to be so nosy..."
I dismissed his apology with a wave of my hand. "No, no, it's ok, you didn't know. But well, yeah, my family's a bit messed up...my dad didn't want to take over my grandfather's business and then married my mother who he didn't approve and was pregnant when they were dating-"
My head snapped to where Heeseung sat, full body turned to face me as his jaw dropped. "Was that too much?" I asked, squinting my eyes.
"Um..maybe yeah. But it's fine, I've heard worst," he joked, making me chuckle, "so your grandfather doesn't like your mum?"
"You could say that. But he's just neutral with it. It's my dad that he's quite stern and awkward around. They're very different and well-opposites don't attract here," I explained, and I felt an arm wrap itself around my shoulder.
"Aw, I'm so sorry. I hope you guys get closer," Heeseung wished, hugging me close while my head laid on his chest, his chin dug into the top of my head.
I was glad he couldn't see my flushed cheeks, and I mumbled a soft thank you while he bobbed his head up and down. We had a small moment, vulnerable, but comforting.
